The Assistant Coach is primarily responsible for coaching student athletes, competitions, and ensuring specific administrative duties are completed. This is a professional coaching position and all duties must be conducted in adherence to the policies, rules, and regulations of York University, the Department of Athletics and Recreation, OUA, U Sport and specific PSO/NSO's.EducationHigh School Diploma.ExperiencePrevious coaching experience at club/high school or higher (preferred college/university level)Possess a valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract, First Aid CertificationSport-specific knowledge as reflected by coaching certification. Member in good standing with applicable sporting organization or PSO/NSOSkillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsEfficient organization and creative thinking skillsStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with student-athletesAbility to work independentlyAdditional NotesRequired to produce Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the UniversityRequired to attend all applicable OUA competitions, U Sport competitions, and championships as required by the Head Coach, Manager, or specified designatePhysical DemandsPhysical activity in demonstrating techniques. May require handling of objects that can weigh up to 70 lbs. Some positions may involve frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 70 pounds.



Working in all weather conditions. Exposure to high noise levels and require wearing hearing protection. Standing throughout the day, using a loud voice at practices and events, physical involvement in all practices and workouts with players.Working Conditions and HazardsMay have to travel to on and off campus games, work alternative work schedules, including evenings and weekends. Position may be required to work indoors and outdoors during both hot and cold weather.
