DescriptionSafety and Training OfficerStandard Bus Yukon is currently seeking a Safety and Training Officer for the Whitehorse area. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and possess superior leadership skills in the training and development of our professional drivers. The ideal candidate must be able to communicate with tact and diplomacy in confidential matters. A high attention to detail, exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills, and a focus on the continuous improvement of safe driving skills and customer service are key to success in this role.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:SafetyPrepare and perform monthly Safety Meetings plus book guest speakersIncident investigations, file management, and reportingAssist with the development of the company's safety culture and programBuild relationships to proactively improve safety resultsMonitor operations to ensure staff comply with safety rules, policies, procedures, and government regulationsFamiliarize prospective employees with SBC Yukon policiesCRC (Collision Review Committee)



road reviews and retrainingMaintain accurate and up-to-date paperwork and time keepingTrainingFile and prepare information packages for new traineesProvide class 2S School Bus training to applicantsIncident investigations, file management, and reportingPerform daily classroom sessions for new traineesCompany road testsBi-annual road testsTeach and update drivers on S-Endorsement requirements and license renewalsMake sure reimbursement forms are sent to the Operations ManagerHours of ServiceManage and submit training and trainer reportsKnowledge and Skills RequiredClass 2 license with S endorsementExcellent driving skills and habits; clean driver's abstractPrevious experience in school bus operationExcellent communication skills (written and verbal)Proficient in Microsoft OfficePublic speaking and presentation skillsOccupational Health and Safety Certificate preferredPost-secondary education and/or training in leadership or management considered an assetKnowledge of (or willingness to learn) busing-related safety legislationMandatory government 2S trainer training to obtain instructor license
