TheAccountingManagerisresponsibleforthefullaccountingcyclefortwoseparatelyincorporatedmanufacturingcompanies.Theroleoverseesfinancialreporting,taxcomplianceanddaytodayaccountingoperationsforbothentities,supervisesaccountingandadministrativestaffacrossbothbusinesses,andreportsdirectlytoaPrincipalattheparentcompany.Oneentity’saccountingiscurrentlyperformedbyanexternalaccountingfirm.Transitioningthisworkinhouseisadefinedobjectiveoftherolewithinthefirstyear.Job-levelcostingandmarginanalysisformpartoftherole’sscope,andareexpectedtodevelopovertimeratherthanimmediately.

Responsibilities

- FinancialReportingandClose
- Managemonth-end,quarter-endandyear-endcloseprocessesforeachentity,includingreconciliations,accrualsandjournalentries
- Preparemonthly,quarterlyandannualfinancialstatementsforeachentity
- Preparefinancialreportingandanalysisfortheparentcompanycoveringbothentities
- Maintainsupportingdocumentationandworkingpapersforyear-end

- AccountingOperations
- Maintainseparategeneralledgersforeachentity
- Overseeaccountspayableandaccountsreceivableforbothbusinesses
- Providepayrollsupportandoversightforbothentities
- Reviewandapprovejournalentries,bankreconciliationsandaccountreconciliations

- TaxandRegulatoryCompliance
- PrepareandfileHSTreturnsindependentlyforeachentity
- Managepayrollremittancesandsourcedeductions
- PrepareandfileT4andT4Areturns
- ActastheprimarypointofcontactforCRAcorrespondenceandreviews

- CashFlowandBudgeting
- Prepareandmaintaincashflowforecastsseparatelyforeachentity
- Supporttheannualbudgetprocessforeachbusiness
- Providevarianceanalysisagainstbudgetandforecast

- Maintainandimproveaccountingsystems,policiesandinternalcontrolsappropriatetoeachentity
- Documentaccountingproceduresandcloseprocessesforbothbusinesses

- TeamLeadership
- Supervise,mentoranddevelopaccountingandadministrativestaffacrossbothentities
- Coordinatewithdepartmentmanagerswhereaccountingstaffaresharedacrossfunctions

Qualifications

- Required
- Minimumfiveyearsofprogressiveaccountingexperience
- Demonstratedownershipofafullaccountingcycle,includingindependentresponsibilityforclose
- Experiencetransitioningorimplementingaccountingsystemsandprocesses
- WorkingknowledgeofCanadiantaxcompliance,includingHST,payrollremittances,T4andT4AfilingsandCRArequirements
- ExperiencewithSageIntacct
- AdvancedExcel
- Supervisoryexperience,includingworkingwithstaffsharedacrossdepartments
- Strongattentiontodetail,organizationalskills,andtheabilitytoprioritizeacrosstwobusinesses
- Validdriver'slicenceandaccesstoavehicle

- Preferred
- CPAdesignation,oractivelypursuing
- Experiencemanagingaccountingformultipleseparatelyincorporatedentities
