The Carpenter is responsible for constructing and maintaining buildings. This includes building items such as furniture and stairs, making repairs to the internal and external structure and ensuring buildings are safe. This position is based out of the Bonnyville / Cold Lake area.Knowledge of commercial construction and remodelling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety. The Carpenter must be proficient at the following tasks: stain-grade trim work, hang doors, drill and set door hardware, set windows, layout for stairs and common rafters, read blueprints, utilize appropriate math skills, able to read blueprints, and must possess mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material estimates.Job Duties:Lay building foundationsPrepare for framing for cementMix and pour cementCreate cement formPour cement for stairsFrame the building including doors and windowsPut up sidingPut up drywallFinish the building and ceilingPut in flooringFinish the roofingPut in porches and groundsPut up scaffoldingBuild required items including specialty furnitureBuild stairs and other itemsBuild other items as requiredOperate and maintain carpentry tools and equipmentAssist with the delivery of other related municipal servicesRespect and respond to direction given by lead-hand(s)Contribute and participate in the effective use of the Quality Control SystemConstruct and maintain structural woodwork, shelving, flooring, tables, chairs etc.Perform drywall, boarding, taping and sandingBuild and install cupboards, bookcases, tack boards etc.Repair furnitureEnsure an adequate supply of material is available for preventative maintenance programPerform other related duties, including minor duties of other trades where certification is not required and the work does not exceed own limitationsUnderstand and comply with all Policies and ProceduresGENMEC ACL offers a challenging and rewarding work workplace that is built on mutual respect and our core values of quality, integrity, and community.
