Position PurposeReporting to the Support Services Manager and working as a member of the interdisciplinary team, the Maintenance Worker II is responsible for providing engineering and maintenance duties for Agape Hospice.AccountabilitiesPlan, schedule, and perform skilled maintenance/repairs, daily tests, checks and operational procedures of all plant machinery and systems including boilers, pumps, fans, valves, piping, controls, pressure vessels, air filtration, motors, chillers, water softeners, fire protection and nurse call systems according to all current codes, manufacturer’s specification and AHS policies.Perform building architectural system maintenance repairs, minor construction and renovations duties, including constructing simple wooden articles or structures such as partitions, ramps, boxes, stands, bulletin boards and counters; repair furniture,doors, windows, flooring; repair walls and ceilings; concrete placing,patching and painting.Coordinate and supervise repair activities.Operate Building Management System by checking and recording readings.Perform year‑round grounds keeping duties and maintain aesthetic appearance of building and its grounds.Assist contractors and outside service and utility agencies with the installation and repair of certified equipment.Record and maintain files on physical equipment and machinery.Requisition supplies and equipment; assist in monitoring department expenses.Act as the building Fire Marshal on scheduled shifts; collaborate with Executive Director and Educator to arrange regular fire drills and complete monthly inspection reports.Participate as a member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee.Provide security support and services in the facility on weekends,



statutory holidays and as requested.Log, maintain, and record work performance; complete timesheets; may participate innew staff orientation and selection.Working ConditionsExpose to very high levels (> 30°C) with requirement to work in a mechanical room for extended periods of time. Expose to high noise level in some mechanical rooms requiring hearing protection. Some exposure to dust, mechanical hazards, burns, sharp tools.Education, Experience, and QualificationsCompletion of a Building Operator A or B and/or 5th Class Power Engineering program required.Additional trade such as Plumber, Electrician, Carpenter an asset.Must have a vehicle, valid driver’s license, insurance and current WHMIS certification.Experience and KnowledgeIntermediate technical/professional experience (3–5 years).3–5 years experience in the operation and maintenance of a commercial or health care facility preferred.Experience in Building Maintenance System programs.Skills and CapabilitiesMake informed, timely decisions in collaboration with other team members.Self‑motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.Demonstrate initiative, judgement, and ability to work in a team.Reliability and punctuality essential.Observe all safety precautions and secure work practices.CompensationThe target hiring range for this position is $27.00 to $28.24 with a maximum of $29.47.
