Maintenance Manager – Fleet Operations
Full-time | Calgary, AB
Build It. Lead It. Own It. (2026 and Beyond)
South West Bulk Express Inc. is entering a major growth phase for 2026, anchored by the opening of a brand-new, state-of-the-art maintenance facility in Calgary. We are not looking to “fill a seat.” We are looking for a high-performing Maintenance Manager who wants real ownership and the opportunity to build a best-in-class fleet maintenance operation from the ground up.
This role is for a leader who is tired of red tape, underinvestment, and being second-guessed—and is ready to run a professional, accountable, results-driven maintenance operation.
The Challenge
You will have full responsibility for the maintenance and repair performance of our tractor and trailer fleet across national operations. You will help design workflows, enforce standards, build the team, and drive measurable results inside our new Calgary facility.
If you believe uptime, cost control, compliance, and people leadership can all coexist—you’ll thrive here.
What You’ll Own
- End-to-end leadership of all fleet maintenance and repair operations
- Launching and setting the standard inside our new, modern Calgary maintenance facility
- Building disciplined maintenance processes that reduce downtime and breakdowns
- Full accountability for maintenance spend, vendor performance, and cost per unit
- Oversight of all work orders—from driver submission to final close-out
- Prioritizing and assigning work to mechanics based on safety, urgency, and operational impact
- Driving mechanic productivity, quality, and shop efficiency—no passengers
- Managing preventive maintenance, major repairs, and CVIPs with zero compromise on compliance
- Acting as the senior maintenance point of contact for drivers and operations, including after-hours support when required
- Continuously improving systems, data accuracy, and performance metrics
3-Month Success Plan
Within the first 90 days, you will:
- Complete a full assessment of fleet condition, maintenance spend, and breakdown trends
- Establish clear shop workflows, priorities, and accountability standards
- Stabilize work order flow, data accuracy, and maintenance scheduling
- Set explicit productivity and quality expectations for mechanics
- Identify and execute quick wins that reduce downtime and repeat failures
- Build strong working alignment with Fleet, Dispatch, and Operations
12-Month Success Plan
By the end of the first year, you will:
- Deliver measurable improvements in fleet uptime and reliability
- Significantly reduce unplanned breakdowns and emergency repairs
- Achieve strong CVIP compliance across the fleet
- Demonstrate controlled, predictable maintenance costs
- Build a reliable, accountable, and high-performing maintenance team
- Establish scalable maintenance systems that support growth into 2026 and beyond
Who We Want
- A proven fleet maintenance leader with experience managing heavy-duty tractors and trailers
- Someone looking for a long-term role, not a stepping stone
- A manager who sets standards, holds people accountable, and leads from the front
- Deep knowledge of preventive maintenance programs,
CVIP requirements, and regulatory compliance
- Comfortable making decisions, owning results, and being measured by outcomes
- Energized by building an operation—not inheriting one
Compensation That Rewards Performance
- Strong base salary, aligned with senior-level experience
- Aggressive KPI-based bonus program, tied directly to:
- Fleet uptime and availability
- Maintenance cost control
- Breakdown reduction
- CVIP compliance
- Shop productivity and efficiency
- Long-term growth and earning potential as the fleet expands
Benefits & Perks
- Group benefits package
- 4% RRSP employer match with a 3-year vesting period
- Vacation pay paid out on every paycheque
- Gym membership discounts and wellness perks
- Contemporary, clean, state-of-the-art facility and tooling
- Stable, long-term employment with a growing company
Why This Role Is Different
- Brand-new, state-of-the-art facility — no legacy mess

- Direct impact on company performance
- Leadership that values results over politics
- A chance to define how maintenance is done at South West Bulk Express for 2026 and beyond
