About Keats Learning Academy

Keats Learning Academy is a BC-curriculum tutoring academy in Lynn Valley, North Vancouver, with a second centre in Kitsilano. Families come to us for the same tutor every week, lessons built around their child's actual schoolwork, and a short note after every session so they always know how things are going.

The role

We're looking for a tutor to support French immersion students in Grades K to 12, and to teach English or Math as well. Most sessions are one-on-one or small groups of two, in person at our Lynn Valley centre.

If you grew up in French immersion yourself, you already understand our students. You know what it feels like to do math in French, read a novel in your second language, and come home to parents who can't help with the homework. That understanding is a big part of this job.

What you'll do

- Tutor French immersion students in reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary and homework support
- Tutor English (reading, writing, spelling) or Math, or both, alongside French
- Follow a lesson plan and materials prepared with our team, matched to each student's school program
- Write a short lesson note after each session in our system (Teachworks)
- Build a warm, steady relationship with your students and a trusting one with their parents

Who thrives here

- Fluent in French and comfortable teaching entirely in French. A French immersion background is a solid asset.
- Able to teach English or Math to at least Grade 7. Both is even better.
- Kids relax around you.



You're patient, encouraging and calm when a student is frustrated.
- Parents trust you quickly. You speak clearly and kindly, and you show up prepared.
- Reliable. You arrive on time, prepare before every session and keep the same weekly schedule.
- Familiar with BC schools and the BC curriculum, as a student, tutor or teacher (an asset).
- Experience with children of any kind: tutoring, teaching, coaching, camps, childcare or volunteering.

University students, recent graduates and people early in their tutoring career are very welcome. We train you in our method and you grow with us.

Hours and pay

- 8 to 12 hours per week to start. Weekday afternoons from 3:30 to 6:30 pm on at least three days, plus Sundays.
- From $20.00 per hour. Part-time employee position with monthly payslips.
- Students are booked for you. You never have to find your own clients.
- Tutors who teach French plus English or Math fill their schedules fastest.

Requirements

- Able to work in person at our Lynn Valley centre (103 - 1258 Lynn Valley Road)
- Able to keep the same weekly time blocks through June 2027
- A completed BC criminal record check before working with students (we'll walk you through it)
