About the Position

We are a family seeking a reliable, compassionate, and experienced caregiver to assist our elderly mother in her home on an ongoing weekly basis.

This is a calm, low-activity evening shift in a respectful home environment. Our mother enjoys watching television, resting, and quiet companionship. We are looking for someone who is patient, dependable, attentive, and comfortable working independently in a private home.

Consistency and punctuality are essential. We need someone who can reliably commit to the same weekly shift on an ongoing basis.

Schedule

- Every Friday, 5:00 PM–10:00 PM
- One consistent five-hour shift each week
- Occasional additional shifts may be available when other caregivers are unavailable.

Responsibilities

- Provide companionship, supervision, and a reassuring presence.
- Prepare meals and assist with mealtime as needed.
- Assist with protected walking using a walker and provide mobility support.
- Provide personal care as needed, including toileting assistance and changing incontinence pads.
- Assist with dressing and grooming when required.
- Provide medication reminders.
- Measure and record daily vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, and weight, in a provided binder.
- Maintain a safe, tidy environment.
- Observe and promptly report changes in health, behaviour, or mobility.

Qualifications





- Previous experience providing care to seniors is required.
- Experience supporting seniors with dementia is strongly preferred.
- Comfortable providing hands-on personal care, including toileting and incontinence care.
- Able to assist safely with mobility and a walker.
- Patient, calm, respectful, attentive, and responsible.
- Comfortable working independently without direct supervision for most of the shift.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule.
- References are required.
- Spanish-speaking ability is an asset.
- Health Care Assistant (HCA) training or certification is an asset but not required.

A female caregiver is preferred in consideration of our mother's personal care needs.

Important: Reliability and Punctuality

Because this position involves ongoing care for an elderly person, dependable attendance is essential. Last-minute cancellations and lateness can significantly disrupt care.
