GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Reporting to the Site Manager or Director of Medical Physics and working under the supervision of medical physicists, the Medical Physics Assistant responsibilities vary from center to center and includes commissioning and quality assurance (QA)
of radiation oncology treatment machines and computerized treatment planning systems used in radiotherapy cancer care, clinical service, radiation safety and programmatic research and development within the radiation oncology service line.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelors degree in physics or related discipline.
Experience
- 2-years equivalent experience.
Skills
- Ability to safely operate
- Medical linear accelerator (Linac) treatment machine.
- Computer tomography (CT) imaging machine.
- Orthovoltage treatment machine.
- Brachytherapy treatment machine.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in various stages of completion according to priorities.
- Initiative and independent analytic assessment required to solve complex problems.
