Position DescriptionThis role is hybrid and requires you to be at our Client office at a minimum 4 days per week - subject to change at any time.As a Quality Engineering Specialist, you will work in a testing and quality assurance capacity on our core mainframe cards and transactions system, ensuring stability, reliability, and quality across critical banking services.The core application is a large, sophisticated mainframe-based system that connects clients to their banking products and services. This 24/7 application supports critical delivery channels such as Online Banking, POS, ATM, and other high-volume transaction platforms.Your future duties and responsibilitiesDesign, develop, execute, and maintain test strategies, test plans, and test cases for mainframe applicationsPerform functional, integration, regression, and system testing across online and batch environmentsValidate end-to-end transaction flows, including physical ATM interactions and customer-facing scenariosExecute testing at physical ATM locations, as required, to validate real-world behavior and fixesValidate data integrity and transaction processing across IMS, DB2, and MQ interfacesSupport conversion, attestation, audit, and regulatory initiatives from a quality perspectiveAnalyze business and technical requirements to ensure complete test coverageIdentify, track, and clearly communicate defects, risks, and quality gapsCollaborate closely with developers, BSAs, and IT partners to ensure timely deliveryCreate and maintain test documentation and execution evidenceSupport production validation and after-hours support when required (rare)Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This RoleMust-haveCompletion of a post-secondary educationStrong written and verbal communication skillsSolid experience in mainframe testing / quality engineeringHands‑on knowledge of COBOL, JCL, IMS (DB/Online/Batch), DB2, MQSeriesExperience validating batch jobs, online transactions, and data flowsWillingness and ability to perform hands‑on testing at physical ATM machinesFamiliarity with Git / Endevor environmentsStrong analytical and problem‑solving skillsNice-to-haveExperience with test automation (zUnit or similar tools)Understanding or hands‑on usage of IDz, z/OS ConnectExposure to CI/CD pipelines in a mainframe environmentKnowledge of Java or cloud‑based integrationsExperience in banking, payments, cards, or ATM systemsCGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000–$115,000.
