A well known mining company is seeking a Senior Corporate Accountant from Big 4 to join there team in the Downtown Vancouver area.

About the company

Listed mining company within the mining space. Based locally in the Downtown core area with sire operations in Canada.

What you will be responsible for

- Support the corporate office with full-cycle accounting responsibilities, including month-end and quarter-end close, general ledger reconciliations for accounting matters such as IFRS 16, intercompany transactions, revaluation, and accruals.
- Provide support and guidance to site team, assisting them in independently resolving issues and reviewing reporting packages provided by the site team.
- Prepare and/or review the monthly reporting packages for the corporate office and its subsidiaries.
- Prepare consolidation working papers and financial statements schedules and footnote disclosures.
- Provide senior management and business leaders with meaningful reporting and analysis to support decision-making and strategic initiatives.
- Understand business changes and drivers contributing to month-over-month and quarter-over-quarter variances.
- Execute and continuously evolve internal controls to ensure compliance with industry best practices and maintain a strong “tone at the top.”
- Manage and maintain online banking platforms, including preparing cash balance reports, setting up wires, EFTs, and bill payments.
- Coordinate with the company’s external auditors,



tax advisors, and other service providers.
- Manage tax compliance requirements.
- Perform ad hoc duties and tasks as assigned by the Corporate Controller or Director of Finance.

What you need to succeed

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or in similar field.
- Chartered Skilled Accountant designation or candidate status required.
- Prior Big 4 experience preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, finance, or public accounting.
- At least three (3) years’ experience with international financial operations.
- Experience in the mining or an industrial setting is an asset.
- Strong understanding of processes and controls within an ERP system.
- Ability to create and present reports to management effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to clearly explain and articulate accounting and reporting requirements.
- Ability to work on one’s own initiative as well as being a team player
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and judgment skills, with the ability to solve complex problems and identify risks and opportunities that may impact the organization.
