SalaryThe salary range for this position is CAD $31.64 - $31.64 per hour.Job SummaryUnder supervision of the Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse, assists in routine care of patients during psychosocial rehabilitative activities, self‑care and structured group activities. Provides personal care, maintains a safe workplace and monitors patients' status. Assists with daily activities, transports patients to off‑site appointments, and supports the care team.ResponsibilitiesSupporting patients with personal care, bathing, dressing, hygiene, prosthetics and elimination.Assisting with meal times, safety, and feeding as required.Helping patients with activities of daily living such as making beds, organizing belongings, and laundry.Monitoring patients in the seclusion room and observing condition reports to RN/RPN.Participating in ward rounds and team meetings to provide feedback.Facilitating patient participation in psychosocial rehabilitation activities and unit scheduled group activities.Transporting patients to off‑site appointments using passenger vehicle or mechanical aids.Maintaining unit safety,



conducting routine searches, and reporting unsafe conditions.Recording and reporting observations of patient health care records and any changes.Performing procedures such as weighing patients, monitoring nutrition and fluid intake, and collecting specimens.Assisting in orientation of patients, families, newcomers to unit routines.Participating in quality improvement activities and providing input on department initiatives.Performing other related duties as required.QualificationsGrade ten plus graduation from a recognized Mental Health Care Worker program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with access to a personal vehicle for business purposes.Skills and AbilitiesEffective verbal and written communication.Ability to interact effectively with others.Physical ability to carry out the required duties.Organizational skills.Proficiency in operating related equipment.#J-18808-Ljbffr
