Staff Accountant - Contract - 12 months

Our client is part of a specialized group of manufacturers serving the municipal, road building, paving, aggregate, and industrial sectors. They are looking for a Staff Accountant to join the finance team on a temporary contract covering a maternity leave. You will work closely with the Assistant Controller and play a hands-on role in the monthly close and reporting cycle.

Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and prepaid expense entries
Complete GL, bank, and intercompany reconciliations
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities




Help prepare financial statements and reporting packages
Track and reconcile inventory and equipment financing records
Assist with audits and compliance reporting
Provide backup support to AP, AR, and payroll as needed
Contribute to process improvements and special projects
Maintain compliance with GAAP and company policies

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
3+ years of accounting experience
Proficiency in Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
ERP or accounting system experience preferred
CPA designation, or progress toward it, is an asset
Solid analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
