Position Summary:

Reporting to the manager, the Agricultural Equipment Technician is responsible for the effective trouble shooting and repair of agriculture machinery and components and at high-quality levels and skilled customer service.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Check agriculture (heavy) equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions

Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required

Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools

Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications

Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment

Service attachments and working tools such as harvesting and tillage equipment, blades,



ploughs, winches and side booms

May attach components and adjust new farm equipment.

Maintain good working records for time, parts, supplies, and outside purchases in repairs.

Communicate with others internally and externally in a professional manner.

With approval, order all parts and materials required to perform assigned repairs.

Maintain work area in a clean and secure condition, including care for shop tools, equipment, and vehicles.

Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

Any other duties as assigned, like assistance with snow clearing at work location if needed.

Requirements

At least three years experience as an agriculture equipment mechanic or farm mechanic

Must be able to work independently and as part of team, take ownership of the work duties and responsibilities.

Be a self-starter, and not a 9-5 worker. Overtime and weekend work will be required, especially in busy (farm) seasons.

Experience with maintenance and mechanics on Massey Ferguson, Manitou, Krone, Versatile and/or MacDon equipment is an asset

Completion of secondary school

Completion of three- to five-year apprenticeship program as agriculture equipment mechanic or field related training courses or a vocational program are assets

Knowledge of electrical, hydraulics, engine, powertrain, GPS and air conditioning systems is preferable.

Must be physical fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs

Must be able to communicate in the English language
