AbouttheRole
TheAccountingManagerisresponsibleforthefullaccountingcyclefortwoseparatelyincorporatedmanufacturingcompanies.Theroleoverseesfinancialreporting,taxcomplianceanddaytodayaccountingoperationsforbothentities,supervisesaccountingandadministrativestaffacrossbothbusinesses,andreportsdirectlytoaPrincipalattheparentcompany.Oneentity’saccountingiscurrentlyperformedbyanexternalaccountingfirm.Transitioningthisworkinhouseisadefinedobjectiveoftherolewithinthefirstyear.Job-levelcostingandmarginanalysisformpartoftherole’sscope,andareexpectedtodevelopovertimeratherthanimmediately.

Responsibilities

FinancialReportingandClose

Managemonth-end,quarter-endandyear-endcloseprocessesforeachentity,includingreconciliations,accrualsandjournalentries

Preparemonthly,quarterlyandannualfinancialstatementsforeachentity

Preparefinancialreportingandanalysisfortheparentcompanycoveringbothentities

Maintainsupportingdocumentationandworkingpapersforyear-end

AccountingOperations

Maintainseparategeneralledgersforeachentity

Overseeaccountspayableandaccountsreceivableforbothbusinesses

Providepayrollsupportandoversightforbothentities

Reviewandapprovejournalentries,bankreconciliationsandaccountreconciliations

TaxandRegulatoryCompliance

PrepareandfileHSTreturnsindependentlyforeachentity

Managepayrollremittancesandsourcedeductions

PrepareandfileT4andT4Areturns

ActastheprimarypointofcontactforCRAcorrespondenceandreviews

CashFlowandBudgeting

Prepareandmaintaincashflowforecastsseparatelyforeachentity

Supporttheannualbudgetprocessforeachbusiness

Providevarianceanalysisagainstbudgetandforecast





CostAccountingandInventory

Trackinventoryandcostofgoodssoldseparatelyforeachentity’smanufacturingoperation

Developjob-levelcostingandmarginreportingtosupportpricingandoperationaldecisions

SystemsandProcessTransition

Transitiononeentity’saccountingfromanexternalaccountingfirmtoin-houseoperation

Maintainandimproveaccountingsystems,policiesandinternalcontrolsappropriatetoeachentity

Documentaccountingproceduresandcloseprocessesforbothbusinesses

TeamLeadership

Supervise,mentoranddevelopaccountingandadministrativestaffacrossbothentities

Coordinatewithdepartmentmanagerswhereaccountingstaffaresharedacrossfunctions

Qualifications

Required

Minimumfiveyearsofprogressiveaccountingexperience

Demonstratedownershipofafullaccountingcycle,includingindependentresponsibilityforclose

Experiencetransitioningorimplementingaccountingsystemsandprocesses

WorkingknowledgeofCanadiantaxcompliance,includingHST,payrollremittances,T4andT4AfilingsandCRArequirements

ExperiencewithSageIntacct

AdvancedExcel

Supervisoryexperience,includingworkingwithstaffsharedacrossdepartments

Strongattentiontodetail,organizationalskills,andtheabilitytoprioritizeacrosstwobusinesses

Validdriver'slicenceandaccesstoavehicle

Preferred

CPAdesignation,oractivelypursuing

Experiencemanagingaccountingformultipleseparatelyincorporatedentities

Manufacturing,millworkorconstructionindustryexperience

Jobcostingandpercentageofcompletionrevenuerecognition

ExperiencewithPayworksandADP
