Contract: 6-month initial term, with potential to extend

Reports To: Director of Infrastructure and Information Security

About the Opportunity
Twin Staffing is partnering with a Calgary-based organization to find a hands-on Systems Administrator for an initial 6-month contract. You'll keep the core technology running, secure it and improve it, across servers, endpoints, Microsoft 365 and other enterprise platforms in physical, virtual, cloud and hybrid environments. The role is fully on-site in Calgary. You'll sit within the Infrastructure group and work closely with the Information Security, Service Desk, Network and Cloud teams.

What You'll Do

Administer Windows Server, Linux Server, virtualization, Microsoft Intune, Exchange Online and related infrastructure services.

Provision, configure, monitor, patch and optimize systems, managing capacity and performance across the full lifecycle.

Plan, test and carry out upgrades, patching and configuration changes through approved change management practices.

Troubleshoot complex incidents, restore service, find root causes and put lasting fixes in place.

Automate administration, deployment and remediation tasks using PowerShell or shell scripting, and standardize configurations to reduce manual work and configuration drift.

Run monitoring and alerting, tuning alerts so they're actionable.

Apply hardening baselines, least-privilege access, and patching and vulnerability remediation. Manage privileged and service accounts.

Run and test backup, restore and disaster recovery procedures.

Support server-side network services (DNS, DHCP, firewall)

and infrastructure for CI/CD pipelines, working with the Network and Cloud teams.

Provide change records and technical evidence for security, compliance and audit reviews.

Maintain documentation, runbooks, diagrams, inventories and change records, and provide escalation support and knowledge transfer to Service Desk and Field Support.

What You Bring

3-5 years of experience administering enterprise systems, infrastructure or hybrid environments.

Hands-on Windows Server and Linux Server administration, including installation, configuration, patching, monitoring and troubleshooting.

Experience administering Intune, Exchange Online and related Microsoft 365 or Entra ID services.

Practical experience with virtualization, storage, backup and recovery, and identity and access management.

Experience securely configuring and supporting remote desktop and remote support tools.

Experience administering ITSM, monitoring and documentation platforms, and documenting work clearly in a ticketing system.

PowerShell or shell scripting skills, and experience with controlled change, configuration and patch management.

Robust problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences.

A degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to Have

Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365 Endpoint Administrator, Windows Server, Red Hat or VMware certifications.

CompTIA Server+, ITIL Foundation or similar.
