Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes), one of Canada’s largest and most successful law firms, is currently looking for a Treasury Manager to join the Finance & Accounting department in the Toronto office.Reporting to the Director, Finance and Administration, the Treasury Manager is responsible for overseeing payments (accounts payable, A/P), cash receipts (accounts receivable, A/R) and cash management across the Firm. This includes optimizing cash and borrowing positions, while maintaining strong internal controls, efficient operations and minimizing financial risks.Primary responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:Accounts Payable and Cash Receipts OversightProviding oversight of the Toronto A/P team and processes, including management of vendors, and review and approval of invoice and expense report paymentsProviding oversight of the Toronto Cash receipts team and processes, including account reconciliations, dispute resolution and various ad hoc requestsAdministering the Firm’s corporate credit card program and administration of all outbound paymentsTrust Accounting and Regulatory ComplianceProviding oversight of the Toronto Trust team and processes, including compliance with Law Society rules, regulations and reporting requirements, trust account reconciliations and various ad hoc requestsTreasury, Cash Management and BankingWorking alongside the Financial Reporting & Analysis team, ensuring timely and complete reconciliation of operating accountsDefining and implementing formal cash management and borrowing strategies to optimize liquidity, cash forecasting and foreign exchange exposure in alignment with the Firm’s financial objectives and risk toleranceEnhancing and maintaining strong internal controls related to the Firm's treasury processesActing as the day-to-day contact for banking relationshipsLeadership and Project SupportEnsuring effective onboarding, training and ongoing development of treasury,



trust and payments team membersLeading and supporting cross-functional projects related to treasury operations, systems and process improvementsAssisting the Director, Finance and Administration with ad hoc requestsQualificationsEducation/Experience:Post-secondary education in accounting or related fieldA minimum of eight years of experience with A/R, A/P and/or treasury functionsCPA designation or equivalent is an assetExperience in finance operations, preferably within a professional services environmentExperience managing a team is requiredSkills/Knowledge Requirements of the Role:Client-service mindset, with robust communication and interpersonal skillsFamiliarity with Chrome River, Aderant and various artificial intelligence tools is an assetStrong problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous improvementExcellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize projects, manage workload and meet deadlinesDetail-oriented and resourceful, with strong analytical abilitiesAbility to build relationships and collaborate with colleagues in Toronto and across other officesKnowledge of accounting reconciliations, debits and credits is requiredAbility to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environmentFlexibility to work overtime as requiredAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft ExcelCompensationThe expected range of compensation for this position is $100,000 – $120,000 annually.
