Our client, a manufacturer of container chassis, is looking for a Mechanical Engineer.
Design and modify mechanical parts, assemblies and welded steel structures using Solid
Works; Produce 3D models and complete manufacturing drawings; Design for manufacturability, assembly, welding, finishing, cost and safety; Design for sheet metal, laser cutting, bending, machining, welding and steel fabrication; Understand manufacturing-process capabilities and limitations; Perform mechanical/structural calculations and FEA; Assess stresses, deformation, safety factors and fatigue; Identify design weaknesses and recommend improvements; Go onto the production floor to troubleshoot design/manufacturing problems; Work directly with welders, machinists,
assemblers and production teams; Perform root-cause analysis and improve existing products/processes.
Requirements: Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, member of the OIQ; At least 3 years of experience in mechanical design and/or metal fabrication experience; Solid 2D/3D CAD skills - Solid
Works, Inventor, AutoCAD or equivalent; Strong knowledge of welded structures, steel, sheet metal, laser cutting, bending and welding; Ability to create/read manufacturing drawings and apply GD&T;/tolerancing; Knowledge of welding symbols/standards; Experience with FEA, stresses, deformation and fatigue; Access to a vehicle (10% travel); Bilingual (clients outside of Quebec).
