OPEN COMPETITON The Lac La Ronge Indian Band, Education Department is inviting applications for the following full-time position at Mikisiw Awasis Early Learning Centre in La Ronge, SK: EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM MANAGER Responsibilities: Plan, implement and supervise daycare activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of children in the program.

Supervise and assist Daycare Workers in: developing daily activity plans, providing nutritious snacks and lunches, coordinating sleep and rest time, establishing acceptable disciplinary policies, and guiding/assisting children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits.

Develop programs and activities that are culturally appropriate, introduce math and literacy concepts and provide various experiences for children including songs, games and storytelling.

Provide input into activity planning and provide support and direction to Daycare Workers regarding child development.

Provide weekly and monthly schedules of activities.

Manage Daycare Workers’ resources effectively to promote a positive team atmosphere.

Maintain a welcoming, safe and healthy environment for children and their parents or caregivers.

Regularly contact, liaise with and act as a resource for parents and caregivers; keeping parents informed of program expectations, program activities and their child’s progress.

Discuss progress or problems of children with staff members in order to determine plans for improvement.

Establish routines for children; providing them with positive guidance and building their esteem.

Conduct staff meetings to discuss daycare initiatives, resolve issues and support career development.

Ensure that equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained and safe at all times.

Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand.





Provide coverage for absent Daycare Workers when required.

Ensure children are supervised at all times Observe children for signs of learning disabilities or emotional problems.

Assist the Early Childhood Program Supervisor with the hiring process and make staffing recommendations.

Assist the Early Childhood Program Supervisor with the development and monitoring of the daycare budget.

Deliver feedback and input to the Early Childhood Program Supervisor for annual employee performance reviews.

Maintain provincial standards and regulations and keep up to date with current child care philosophy.

Attend meetings and workshops to develop and discuss new teaching methods.

Promote a positive image of the daycare program to the public.

Develop and maintain current, accurate and confidential client files.

Be familiar with all Lac La Ronge Indian Band emergency procedures.

Requirements College Diploma in Early Childhood Education Diploma (ECE). 5 years of experience as a Daycare Worker. 2 years of experience in a Manager position.

First Aid and CPR Certification Proven ability to successfully work with children and their parents in a sensitive, effective and professional manner.

Strong working knowledge of child development theories and practices.

Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures to ensure that children are supervised and safe at all times.

Demonstrated ability to create safe and appropriate activities for children.

Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and e-mail required.

Good organizational, time management and prioritization skills.

Solid verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Must be able to provide a satisfactory a Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Check.
