Shopify Lead

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on, and results-driven Shopify Lead to spearhead our e-commerce initiatives. In this role, you will own the technical roadmap, architecture, and performance of our Shopify Plus (or Shopify) storefronts. You will lead a talented team of developers and designers, bridging the gap between business objectives and technical execution to deliver exceptional, high-converting shopping experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture

- Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of custom Shopify themes, apps, and integrations using Shopify CLI, Liquid, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3/Sass.
- Architect robust solutions utilizing Shopify APIs (Storefront API, Admin API, GraphQL, REST) and Webhooks to integrate third-party ERPs, CRMs, WMS, and payment gateways.
- Ensure optimal site performance, Core Web Vitals, mobile responsiveness, and high availability across all storefronts.

Team Mentorship & Project Management

- Mentor, guide, and upskill junior and mid-level Shopify developers through code reviews, technical workshops, and best-practice sharing.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, UI/UX designers, and Marketing teams to translate business requirements into technical sprints and deliverables.
- Oversee QA processes, version control (Git), and CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless,



bug-free releases.

Optimization & Innovation

- Drive conversion rate optimization (CRO) initiatives by implementing A/B testing frameworks, personalization tools, and speed optimizations.
- Stay ahead of Shopify ecosystem updates, new feature releases (e.g., Checkout Extensibility, Metaobjects, Hydrogen/Oxygen), and emerging e-commerce trends.
- Troubleshoot complex technical roadblocks, security vulnerabilities, and checkout bottlenecks proactively.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Experience: 5+ years of software development experience with at least 3+ years specializing exclusively in Shopify/Shopify Plus development and architecture.
- Technical Stack:
- Expert-level proficiency in Liquid, HTML5, CSS3/Sass, JavaScript (ES6+), and React.js/Node.js.
- Deep experience with Shopify APIs (GraphQL & REST), Storefront API, and building custom private/public apps.
- Familiarity with contemporary headless Shopify setups (Hydrogen & Oxygen) is a strong plus.
- Tooling: Proficient with Shopify CLI, GitHub/Git, theme architectures (OS 2.0), and build tools (Webpack, Vite).
- Problem-Solving: Strong debugging skills with a keen eye for site speed optimization, security, and scalability.
- Communication: Excellent leadership and cross-functional communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
