The Polly Fox Bakery & Bistro is hiring a Full-Time Barista with at least 1 year of café experience and confident latte art skills.

About Us

Since 2016, The Polly Fox has been Abbotsford’s dedicated gluten-free and celiac-safe bakery and bistro. Many of our guests have nowhere else they can eat or drink without worry, so they trust us completely and come back often. As our Barista, you’ll be the face of our front counter. You’ll craft every espresso drink to a high standard, finish milk drinks with clean latte art, and make every guest feel welcome and safe.

What You’ll Do

Coffee & Drinks

- Pull consistent, well-dialed espresso shots and adjust grind and dose through the day
- Steam and texture dairy and plant-based milks to the right temperature and microfoam
- Pour clean latte art on every milk drink (heart, tulip and rosetta at minimum)
- Prepare teas, chai, matcha, hot chocolate, iced drinks and seasonal specials to recipe
- Keep drink quality and speed steady through the morning and lunch rush

Guest Service

- Greet every guest warmly, take orders and handle payments accurately on the POS
- Answer questions about our menu, ingredients and allergens with care and confidence
- Recommend drinks and pastries, and get to know our regulars by name

Celiac-Safe Standards

- Follow our gluten-free and allergen-control procedures with zero shortcuts
- Check ingredients and labels on every product that comes behind the counter
- Store and handle milk alternatives, syrups and toppings to prevent cross-contact

Bar Care & Cleanliness

- Clean and maintain the espresso machine, grinders and brewers daily
- Complete opening and closing checklists, temperature logs and cleaning logs
- Restock cups, milk, beans and supplies, and report low stock early
- Keep the bar, counter and front-of-house spotless and organized

Must-Haves

- Latte art is required.



You can pour a clean heart, tulip and rosetta consistently, even during a rush. You’ll do a short pour test at the interview.
- At least 1 year of paid barista experience in a café, coffee shop or bakery
- Strong espresso fundamentals: dialing in, extraction, milk texturing and machine care
- Comfortable on a fast, busy counter while keeping quality high
- Friendly, clear communication in English
- Reliable and on time, and available for full-time hours including weekends
- Able to stand for a full shift and lift up to 25 lb
- Willing to follow strict gluten-free and allergen procedures exactly

Nice to Have

- FOODSAFE Level 1 (or willing to get it within your first month)
- Experience in a gluten-free, allergen-aware or specialty coffee setting
- Latte art beyond the basics (swans, stacked tulips, wave patterns)

Pay & Details

- $19.50 per hour
- Full time, 35–40 hours per week
- Day shifts, including weekends
- 3-month probation, with benefits after probation
