Whimsical Childcare is looking for a passionate, experienced and dedicated Childcare Program Director (Level 3 ECE) to lead our childcare centre in downtown Edmonton.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with children, has strong leadership skills and can create a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment for children, families and staff.
Our centre provides childcare for children aged 12 months to 5 years.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the childcare centre and ensure compliance with Alberta childcare licensing requirements.
- Lead, supervise, mentor and support educators and other staff.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate, play-based learning programs following Alberta's Flight curriculum framework.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
- Manage staff schedules, classroom ratios and daily staffing needs.
- Build positive relationships with children, parents and staff.
- Manage enrolment, parent communication and administrative records.
- Maintain accurate documentation and prepare for licensing inspections.
- Ensure health, safety, cleanliness and emergency procedures are followed.
- Support staff hiring, training and performance evaluations.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Alberta Level 3 Early Childhood Educator certification (required).
- Previous experience working in a licensed childcare centre.
- Previous supervisory or childcare management experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta childcare licensing regulations.
- Knowledge of Alberta's Flight curriculum framework.
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain it before starting.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently, solve problems and manage multiple responsibilities.
