Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that align with each student’s specific needs and abilities
- Deliver engaging lessons across core subjects such as math, literacy, and social skills, adapting teaching methods for diverse learning styles
- Provide one-on-one tutoring and small group instruction to support students’ academic progress
- Monitor and document student progress regularly, adjusting instructional strategies as needed
- Collaborate closely with special education staff, therapists, parents, and caregivers to ensure comprehensive support for each child
- Maintain a safe, positive,
and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and confidence
- Use effective communication skills to clearly convey instructions and feedback to students with varying abilities
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities in an educational setting
- Strong background in early childhood education and understanding of developmental milestones
- Prior classroom experience with children of different age groups, especially those requiring special education support
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with students, colleagues, and families
- Knowledge of special education practices, accommodations, and behavioral management techniques
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies for diverse learning needs and abilities
- Proficiency in tutoring methods for foundational subjects such as math and literacy
