COACHING & OPERATIONS ROLES, RAW SPORTS, CALGARY

RAW Sports is hiring for two roles in Calgary. Both are described below. When you apply, tell us which role you are interested in, or both.

1. Logistics / Coaching in School and Camps
2. Operations Lead, Jr. Cardinals Flag Football

ABOUT RAW SPORTS RAW Sports is a football youth development company, built on one belief: football is a powerful vehicle for teaching resilience, teamwork, leadership and discipline. Led by former CFL players Anthony and Robert Woodson, RAW now coaches about 3,500 young athletes a year in more than 17 cities across Canada.

COMMON TO BOTH ROLES

- Location: Calgary, Alberta, with travel as required.
- A clear Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required and must be approved by RAW before your first day working with minors. Willingness to obtain one is fine if you do not have a current check.
- Commitment to RAW's child safety standards, including the Rule of Two: never one-on-one with a youth participant.

============================== ROLE 1: LOGISTICS / COACHING IN SCHOOL AND CAMPS

==============================

About the role

RAW Sports is hiring for a logistics and coaching role across two sides of our camps department: our in-school flag football program and our wider RAW camps. Part of your time is spent leading residencies in schools across Calgary and area. The rest supports the camps program across the country. The two sides share the same values, the same standards and many of the same skills.

This is a contractor role, averaging 25 to 30 hours per week, with the opportunity to grow into a full time position. Schedule: weekdays during school hours through the school year, plus evenings and weekends for camps duties.

Our in-school residency brings co-ed, non-contact flag football to students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Coaches teach the game and, just as importantly, the character skills that go with it: confidence, courage, learning from mistakes and bouncing back.

The in-school role The successful candidate will guide students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 through week-long flag football camps, delivered right in their school during the school day. They will run the gym, lead the coaching staff, and are the face of RAW for every teacher and principal they work with.

This is not just a physical activity program, and that is what sets RAW apart. Every day of camp has a theme, such as confidence, courage, learning from mistakes, or resilience, and that theme is part of the curriculum. Your job is to deliver the program through RAW values and weave the theme of the day into every session, so students leave with more than football skills. The best candidate is as excited about building good people as they are about teaching the game.

What you will do

- Deliver the program
- Lead back-to-back classes all day, typically 6 to 10 sessions of 30 to 50 minutes, with 20 to 55 students per class.
- Set the tone. You are the thermostat for the gym: high energy, positive, and always coaching.
- Teach character development, teamwork and leadership as deliberately as you teach throwing and catching.
- Coach every grade from Kindergarten to Grade 12, shifting from movement games with the youngest students to full flag football with the oldest.
- Deliver every session through RAW values, and always bring in the theme of the day. Open and close each class with a huddle that names the theme and connects it to life off the field.
- Adapt drills so every student gets a rep, including students with mobility or other needs.
- Adjust on the fly when students are not engaged, and adapt the practice plan in real time.

Build the plan

- Help develop and refine practice plans for different grades, class lengths and spaces.
- Know and follow each school district's approved activities and restrictions.
- Connect sessions to physical education and wellness outcomes when teachers ask.

Lead the coaching staff

- Oversee assistant coaches on site: brief them before each residency, assign roles,

and make sure everyone is actively teaching.
- Onboard and mentor new assistant coaches as the program grows.
- Hold the standard on conduct, attire and professionalism.
- Give RAW honest feedback on coach performance and attendance after each residency.

Represent RAW in the school

- Act as the day-of contact for principals, teachers and school staff.
- Liaise with teachers and administration on schedules, spaces and student needs.
- Build real relationships. Learn names, greet staff, and leave every school wanting RAW back.

Run the logistics

- Transport equipment to and from each school.
- Set up before the first class and take down after the last, every day.
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before setup, ready to go.
- Track the equipment kit (footballs, flags, cones, pinnies, jerseys, prizes) and flag anything missing or worn.

Report back

- Complete a coach debrief after every residency.
- Report any injury or incident to school staff and RAW right away.
- Capture student stories and teacher feedback that show the impact of the program.
- Share what worked and what did not, so the next residency is better.

Camps department responsibilities This role is shared with the RAW camps department. The coaching, leadership, child-safety and reporting duties above carry over. On the camps side, you also help run the wider camps program, including but not limited to:

- Assist in setting up and running RAW camps across the country throughout the season.
- Serve as Head Coach or Quality Control at camps, running camp days to the RAW standard.
- Support facility bookings and camp scheduling.
- Support camp staffing: help recruit, onboard and train camp coaches, and cover subs and no-shows.
- Marketing of camps under the guidance of our marketing manager: help promote camps in your communities, capture content and stories that show the program's impact (following RAW's media guidelines), and help drive registrations.
- Manage camp equipment and apparel: pack, transport and account for gear, and flag anything missing or worn.
- Lead the post-camp debrief and capture what worked so the next camp is better.
- Be RAW's in office face for families and facility partners.
- Travel for camps as required, including weekends.

Who you are

- High energy. You bring it for the first session of the day and the tenth.
- A football person. You have playing or coaching experience and can teach the fundamentals simply.
- Great with kids. You enjoy working with young athletes of every age and ability, and it shows.
- Adaptable and flexible. Plans change. You stay liquid and keep the quality high.
- A problem solver. You find the fix without needing to be told.
- A leader. The coaches around you follow your example and get better working with you.
- Qualified. Partners, families and the people you work with trust you.
- Punctual and reliable. Programs run on a schedule built to the minute. Punctuality means showing up early and being set up before the first whistle.
- Organized. You are comfortable with schedules, checklists and Google Sheets.
- Aligned with RAW values. You believe in hard work, discipline, perseverance and teamwork, and in using football to build good people.
- Comfortable juggling several moving parts at once: facility, staff, gear and schedule.
- A strong communicator with coaches, families and partners.

Requirements

- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification. If you do not already hold it, you can obtain it once you start.
- Police clearance. A clear Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, issued within the last 12 months,

or willingness to obtain one. It must be approved by RAW before your first day working with minors.
- Transportation. A valid driver's licence and access to a reliable, insured vehicle. You must be able to get yourself and the equipment to schools and program sites.
- Available to travel as needed.
- Availability. Weekdays, Evenings, Weekends.
- Physical demands. On your feet all day, demonstrating skills and carrying equipment.
- Football experience as a player, coach, or both.

Nice to have

- Experience teaching or coaching in a school setting

- Flag football coaching experience
- Experience leading or training other coaches
- Previous experience coaching with RAW Sports
