Green Works Contracting is a multi-service landscaping and property maintenance company serving the nation’s capital. We are currently seeking experienced Plow Truck & Salter Operators to join our winter operations team.

The successful candidate will work as Snow & Ice Technicians to assist with snow clearing at commercial and municipal properties, and safely transport equipment between locations.

Other Winter positions available based upon experience: Plow truck, Loaders, Sidewalk Plows, AZ/DZ Dump Truck

POSITION DETAILS

● Seasonal position - approximately November 1, 2026 to April 15, 2027.

● On-call position with hours dependent on weather and snowfall (no guaranteed hours).

● Shifts may range from 8–15 hours (6 to 12 hour shifts on average).

● Must be available for snow events 24/7, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

● Summer landscaping work is be available following the winter season.

● $25.00 per hour.

RESPONSIBILITIES

● Shoveling & applying Ice-melt products at assigned properties.

● Maintain clean and protected walkways, entrances, parking areas, and other assigned areas.

● Report site damage, maintenance requirements, or safety concerns to supervisors.

● Follow work orders, site instructions, and company safety procedures.

● Communicate with supervisors and team members throughout snow events.

● Ensure assigned areas are cleared safely and efficiently.

REQUIREMENTS

● Previous snow removal or equipment experience is an asset, but not required, training can be provided.

● Reliable and dependable with a strong attendance history.

● Reliable transportation to and from our shop (no buses available).

● Must be able to respond to dispatch and be ready to work on short notice.

● Reliable cell phone with data and the ability to remain reachable during snow events.

● Available for overnight, weekends, and holiday shifts.

● Able to work safely, outdoors in various winter conditions and temperatures.

● Able to read and follow work orders and site instructions

● Dependable and able to work independently and as part of a team.

Position Overview

● We are currently hiring dedicated Commercial Snow & Ice Technicians for the upcoming winter season. In this role, you will be on the front lines ensuring commercial and municipal walkways, entrances, and pedestrian areas remain safe and clear of snow and ice during winter weather events.

● Location: Ottawa, ON (Nation’s Capital Region)

● Position Type: Seasonal (Approx. Nov 1, 2026 – Apr 15, 2027) | On-Call / Weather-Dependent

● Pay Rate: $25.00 / hour

● Schedule: On-call 24/7 during winter snow events (including nights, weekends, and holidays).

● Shift Length: Shifts vary based on weather conditions, typically averaging 8–15 hours per event.

● Growth: High-performing technicians are given priority for summer landscaping positions and equipment operator training.

Key Responsibilities

● Manual Clearing & De-icing: Efficiently shovel snow and apply ice-melt products across designated commercial and municipal walkways, building entrances, ramps, and stairways.

● Property Safety:



Ensure pedestrian pathways and access points are cleared safely and thoroughly to company and client standards.

● Inspection & Hazard Reporting: Perform property checks and report any site damage, safety concerns, or maintenance needs to supervisors immediately.

● Safety & Communication: Follow site work orders, adhere to company safety protocols, and maintain regular communication with supervisors during weather events.

● Work Apps: Required to download and use specific apps for work duties and log tracking.

Requirements

● Experience: Previous snow removal or equipment experience is an asset, but not required—paid training will be provided.

● Reliability: Must have reliable personal transportation to our shop on short notice (not accessible by public transit).

● Tech-Savvy: A smart phone with active data to receive dispatch notifications and maintain contact during shifts.

● Physical Fitness & Endurance: Able to perform manual labor outdoors in extreme cold, snow, and changing winter conditions.

● Work Ethic: Punctual, dependable, and capable of working effectively both independently and within a crew setting.
