We are looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship, understands that proper preparation is critical to a successful concrete repair, and can work independently as their experience develops.

Responsibilities

- Perform selective demolition of deteriorated and damaged concrete using chipping hammers, grinders, saws and other appropriate tools.

- Measure, mix and place cementitious repair mortars, grouts and other specialized concrete repair products.
- Perform horizontal, vertical and overhead concrete repairs.
- Hand finish repaired concrete to the required dimensions, profile and surface finish.

- Work effectively with Concrete Finishers, Form Setters,

Carpenters, Labourers and site supervision.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will have:

- Previous experience with concrete construction, repair or restoration.
- Experience with selective concrete demolition and chipping.
- Good hand-finishing skills.
- Experience mixing and placing repair mortars and grouts.
- Experience preparing concrete surfaces and reinforcing steel.
- Ability to safely operate grinders, chipping hammers, concrete saws, mixers and other construction tools.
- Ability to read basic construction drawings and repair details.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in an outdoor construction environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a crew.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's licence are considered assets.

Experience with bridge rehabilitation, structural concrete repairs, vertical/overhead repairs, form-and-pour repairs, epoxy systems or other civil infrastructure work would be considered a strong asset. Concrete Finisher apprenticeship or certification is an asset but is not required.

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in candidates who understand that concrete repair involves more than simply patching concrete.

A successful Concrete Repair Technician understands the importance of:

proper demolition → proper surface preparation → correct material preparation → proper placement → quality finishing → proper curing

We are willing to further develop someone who has strong basic concrete skills, a good work ethic and an interest in becoming highly proficient in concrete repair and restoration.

Compensation

$32.50–$36.00 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated concrete repair skills.

Employees demonstrating the ability to independently perform complex concrete repairs and provide field leadership will have opportunities to progress into Senior Concrete Repair Technician / Lead Hand positions.
