Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Corridor invites applications for the role of Deputy Hospital Medical Director (HMD) - Devon General Hospital (DGH).

This 0.05 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Associate Corridor Medical Lead (ACML), Physician Development and Engagement, and Suburban Hospitals, the Corridor Clinical Department Lead (CCDL), Family Medicine, and the HMD, DGH. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that standards of care are being met in the department and that support for research and teaching is available.

The Deputy HMD, DGH supports the day-to-day operations of the Family Medicine team, including physician engagement, performance oversight, and quality improvement. The role acts as a liaison between Family Medicine providers, medical leaders, and operational leadership to support collaboration and effective service delivery. This position helps ensure the team can meet increasing patient volumes and complexity while supporting acute care capacity across the Edmonton Corridor.

The position has an expected term of 1 year.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong abilities in communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation, along with a passion for quality and patient safety while working as part of a leadership team.



They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant medical leadership experience and will be regarded by their peers as a robust clinician.

Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, eligible to work in Canada, and be eligible for or have current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
