Beedie Capital is a multi-strategy direct investment platform that manages the alternative investments and assets for Beedie, one of Canada’s most established private enterprises. Focusing primarily on the Technology and Mining space, we combine the strategic capabilities of an institutional investment platform with the entrepreneurial mindset of a privately owned business.

Our investments range from $20M to $70M as either equity or structured debt (i.e., subordinated debt, convertible debt), primarily in the US and Canada to both public and private companies. Our adaptable mandate allows us to apply an agnostic and opportunity dependent approach to the industry, duration, structure, and size of our investments.

We are a dynamic, fast scaling program that has successfully deployed over $1 billion in capital over the last 5 years and are actively seeking top-tier candidates to join our platform and help lead us through the next phase of growth.

Position Overview

Joining our growing team of 16 (including 9 investment professionals), the Director will be a senior member of the investment team. They will play a critical role in the origination, execution, and management of investments, working closely with team members across all levels to drive deal quality and investment outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and champion new investment strategies and opportunities.
- Lead the sourcing, execution, and ongoing management of investments.
- Provide direct leadership to the junior investment team, including Analysts, Associates, and Associate Directors.
- Manage portfolio investments at both strategic and board levels.




- Contribute to the continued evolution and refinement of the firm's overall asset allocation strategy.

Qualifications

- 5 years of relevant experience in one of the following areas, or another relevant field: Private Debt, Private Equity or Growth Equity Funds, Hedge Funds, Corporate Investment Arms, Corporate Development or M&A; Platforms
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA and/or CFA designation considered an asset but not required.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) required.
- Demonstrated ability to source, execute and manage current investment opportunities across multiple investment and economic cycles.
- Excellent communication skills with proven network of executives, advisors, asset managers and other key decision makers in Canada and the US.
- Experience in technology investing preferred but not required.
- Ability to operate in a highly flexible and dynamic environment, including multi-tasking across a variety of industries, sectors, investment structures and strategies.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team of professionals.

Position Details

- Terms of Employment: Full time, permanent position.
- Wage: $200,000 – $350,000 CAD annually, commensurate with experience.
