: Trivia Editor/Proofer (Part-Time / Remote)

Position: Trivia Editor/Proofer Specialist (Fact-Checker)

Employment Type: Full Time

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm

Location: Kamloops, BC, Canada The Reality of This Role (Please Read Carefully)

If you love watching Jeopardy! on the couch or casual trivia nights at the local pub, that’s outstanding—but this is not that job.

This is a focused, high-volume editorial, data verification, and research role. You will not be casually playing games; you will be methodically auditing, fact-checking, and tagging hundreds of questions in a CMS system online.

The work requires deep concentration, repetitive verification routines, and a forensic mindset. If spending 4 hours straight checking dates, sports records, spelling variations, and metadata in a database sounds exhausting, this position isn't a good fit. If you find genuine satisfaction in meticulous cataloging, spotting subtle inconsistencies, and ensuring 100% data integrity, you will thrive here.

College students and recent graduates in journalism, history, English, library science, or research fields with strong discipline and an eagle eye are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

- Rigorous Fact-Checking & Date Auditing: Verify every question and answer against authoritative sources. Crucially, you must identify outdated facts and time-sensitive phrasing (e.g., obsolete sports records, changed political offices, outdated population stats, or questions framed as "recently" or "current").
- Editorial Consistency & Style: Copyedit text to eliminate ambiguity, ensure crisp American English phrasing, fix punctuation/grammar,

and verify that multiple-choice distractors are definitively incorrect.
- Systematic Meta-Tagging: Accurately apply structured tags (difficulty rating, category, subcategory, decade/era, keywords) across large batches of questions based on strict internal standards.
- Procedural Adherence: Follow detailed editorial guidelines, character limit rules, and formatting specs with zero drift or shortcuts.

Requirements & Qualifications

- Eagle-Eye Attention to Detail: A natural instinct for spotting discrepancies, ambiguity, misspellings, and subtle factual drift across repetitive datasets.
- Temporal Awareness: The critical ability to spot questions written years ago that are no longer accurate today, recognizing when records have been broken, titles vacated, or statuses changed.
- Fluency in American English: Native or bilingual mastery of American English grammar, tone, spelling, and common idioms.
- Cultural & Sports Literacy: Strong familiarity with American pop culture (film, music, television, trends) and foundational knowledge of major US sports leagues (NFL, MLB, NBA, college athletics).
- High Tolerance for Repetitive Focus: Comfort with sitting down, focusing, and executing structured data auditing in spreadsheets or CMS tools for 4 hours a day without losing accuracy.
- Strict Adherence to Instructions: Ability to execute workflows exactly as directed without skipping steps.Nice-to-Haves
- Academic or professional background in fact-checking, copyediting, archival research, or library/information science.
- Advanced experience with Google Software Products.

Pay: $46,500.00-$56,000.00 per year
