Job Overview

Dietitians of Canada (DC) believes in the power of food to enhance lives and improve health, and in the strength of a connected, engaged professional community. DC is looking for an experienced, detail-driven Event Planner to lead our flagship annual conference and recurring educational programming, while supporting a growing portfolio of Chapter, Network and Section events. This is a full-time, year-round contract role for someone who thrives on turning ambitious event ideas into flawlessly executed experiences — in person, virtually or in hybrid formats.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Own the planning and execution of our flagship annual conference (virtual this year), from critical path and budget through on-site delivery and post-event reporting.
- Lead our recurring educational seminars/webinars, managing program, registration, logistics and budget.
- Provide event planning guidance, tools and hands-on support to Chapters, Networks and volunteer leaders across the organization.
- Manage event registration systems, vendor and venue relationships, and event-day logistics.
- Build and monitor event budgets, and coordinate speakers, sponsors, exhibitors and communications with internal teams.
- Maintain the organization-wide event calendar and continuously improve event planning processes, templates and resources.

Qualifications & Skills

- Post-secondary education in event management, hospitality, business, communications, association management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience planning and executing events, preferably within an association, professional organization, non-profit or similar environment.

- Demonstrated experience managing events from planning through execution and post-event evaluation.
- Experience with virtual and/or hybrid events and event technology platforms.
- Experience managing event registration systems and processes.
- Experience working with venues, suppliers and external service providers.
- Experience developing and monitoring event budgets.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Experience working with volunteers, committees and diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a broader team.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends and/or travel when required for in-person events.
- CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) designation or equivalent an asset.

Why Join Us

- Fully remote role – work from anywhere while leading events that bring our national community together.
- Competitive contract compensation, commensurate with experience.
- A collaborative team where your ideas on process and improvement are genuinely welcomed.

Note: While the above qualifications highlight key strengths, we welcome applicants with a variety of experiences and backgrounds. If you have solid qualifications in community engagement, membership services, or volunteer management but do not meet all the "Qualifications & Skills", we still encourage you to apply.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year

Experience

- Event planning: 3 years (required)

Licence/Certification:
- CMP designation or equivalent (preferred)
