Happy Tails is looking for an experienced dog care professional to join our Dominion daycare team.

We're looking for someone who is confident working with groups of dogs, has good judgement and takes initiative. You should be someone who naturally steps up, supports coworkers and enjoys taking responsibility.

For the right person, this position offers advancement opportunity with increased responsibility, compensation and full-time hours.

What you'll be doing

- Supervising off-leash playgroups and managing group dynamics
- Recognizing early signs of stress, overstimulation and inappropriate interactions
- Making decisions around play, rest, enrichment and safety
- Communicating confidently with pet parents during drop off and pickup
- Assisting with daily dog care, cleaning and general daycare operations

What we're looking for
- Professional experience working with groups of dogs in daycare, boarding, training, shelters or similar environments
- Strong understanding of dog body language and behaviour
- Confidence managing off-leash groups and preventing conflicts
- Calm, dependable and able to make good decisions under pressure
- Robust communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude
- Someone proactive who doesn't need constant direction
- Commitment to positive-reinforcement, force-free handling

Bonus experience (not required):

- Customer service and client communication
- Training, mentoring or leading a team
- Conflict resolution and handling difficult situations
- Dog-training education, certifications or experience

there may be opportunities to take on more leadership responsibilities, progress into a Team Lead position and increase your hours.

We're also interested in candidates who are studying to become dog trainers or pursuing professional training certifications. As Happy Tails grows, we'd like to introduce services such as puppy classes, training workshops and other enrichment programs.

We're a locally owned, enrichment-focused dog daycare in North Vancouver. Our approach is force-free, with structured playgroups, enrichment activities, appropriate rest and a strong focus on each dog's wellbeing.

You'll work alongside our experienced Manager and a team that genuinely cares about providing thoughtful, high-quality dog care.

Position details

- Pay: $19-21 per hour, based on experience
- Hours: Approximately 25 hours per week to start
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, shifts generally between 10:30 AM and 6:30 PM
- Growth: Potential for full-time hours and advancement into a senior role
