Ahuja Litigation Mediation Arbitration (ALMA Law) is a family law firm in the Lower Mainland with two offices located in South Surrey and New Westminster. We act on complex matters involving high net worth portfolios, business and corporate interests, income determination, support, property division, valuations, parenting disputes, and tax-related issues.

We are seeking an experienced family law lawyer with at least five years of practice who wants to build or continue a long-term practice in family law.

The successful candidate will be capable of working independently, exercising sound judgment, and taking full ownership of a caseload from intake through resolution.

The Role

Responsibilities will include

- Managing family law files independently from intake through resolution
- Drafting pleadings, applications, affidavits, financial statements, Scott Schedules, offers of settlement, agreements, and written submissions
- Analyzing income, support, business valuation, property division, and other financial issues
- Conducting examinations for discovery
- Attending chambers applications, judicial case conferences, settlement conferences, and mediations
- Preparing witnesses and trial materials
- Appearing in court and taking conduct of your own hearings and trials
- Collaborating with senior counsel on complex hearings and trials
- Contributing to the firm's mediation and arbitration practice, as appropriate
- Developing and maintaining client relationships

Qualifications

Required:

- Member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia
- Minimum of five years of practice experience, with substantial experience in family law
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills
- Chambers, discovery, and mediation experience
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage competing deadlines
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment

Assets:

- Trial experience in family law matters
- An established client base or book of business
- Strong numerical aptitude and comfort analyzing financial information
- Experience with business interests, income determination, valuations, or tax-related issues
- Training or experience in family law mediation, arbitration, or collaborative practice
