We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Family Law Lawyer with experience in civil litigation and real estate law, to join our dynamic legal team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of advocating for clients navigating complex family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child and spousal support etc. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and possesses a strong commitment to justice and client advocacy.
Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse caseload of family law cases from inception through resolution, including negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis to stay updated on relevant laws and precedents
- Draft and review legal documents such as pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and custody arrangements with precision and clarity
- Engage in effective negotiation strategies to reach amicable settlements that serve clients’ best interests
- Provide expert advice to clients on legal rights, options, and potential outcomes in family law disputes
- Ability to attend Court and settlement conferences and advocate for clients without supervision from senior partners
- Maintain meticulous case records and ensure all filings comply with local practice directions
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and valid licensure to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction
- Proven experience in family law or related legal fields with a strong understanding of family court procedures
- Proficiency with legal research tools such as LexisNexis and familiarity with current family law statutes and regulations
- Excellent negotiation skills combined with the ability to advocate effectively for clients’ interests
- Strong writing skills for drafting clear, persuasive legal documents and correspondence
- Demonstrated ability to conduct detailed research and apply findings to casework effectively
- Exceptional communication skills with a compassionate approach toward clients facing sensitive issues
- 3-5 years experience in Ontario practicing family law
