Requirements:

- Minimum 5 years experience

- Background in outside plant (OSP) or inside plant (ISP) telecommunications, including FTTH (Fiber to the Home) or HFC networks

- Hands-on experience with fusion splicers, precision cleavers, OTDRs, and cable-locating tools

- Willing to work evenings, weekends, and on-call

- Valid Drivers License with clean driving abstract

Job Responsibilities:

- Fibre Splicing: Perform single and mass fusion or mechanical splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables inside enclosures, splice trays, patch panels, and aerial or underground vaults.

- Testing and Certification: Conduct continuity, light loss, and performance tests using an Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR), power meters, and visual fault locators.

- Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose, locate, and restore network faults, damaged splices, or cut lines during emergency service calls.

- Reading Schematics:



Interpret engineered network drawings, cable records, splice plans, and utility maps to route and connect lines accurately.

- Documentation: Record test results, update as-built network diagrams, and maintain inventory for completed installations or service tickets.

- Site Safety: Follow municipal, client, and company safety standards, including work zone traffic control and proper handling of tools or bucket trucks.
