Gas Utility Operator

Evergreen Gas Co-op ltd. is hiring a Gas Utility Operator to support the operation of our natural gas utility system. While relevant experience is considered an asset, paid training will be provided for the right candidate.

We are a member-owned gas distribution co-operative serving over 2,100 members in rural Brazeau County, Parkland County and parts of Drayton Valley.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Read, replace, disconnect, and reconnect gas meters
- Locate underground gas lines
- Perform inspections, maintenance, repairs, and installations on natural gas systems
- Respond to gas odour and carbon monoxide concerns, as well as other emergencies
- Opportunity to take on additional tasks and responsibilities as skills and experience develop

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Full-time with occasional overtime
- Paid on-call rotation following the training period

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and a clean driver’s abstract
- Ability to obtain a satisfactory criminal record check prior to employment start date
- CSA-approved safety boots or willingness to obtain
- Must reside within the co-op franchise area or the Town of Drayton Valley




- Willingness to complete employer-paid training, including the Gas Utility Operator Apprenticeship program and other required certifications

Preferred Experience, Skills and Experience:

- Previous experience in natural gas distribution, utilities, locating, or a related field
- Mechanical aptitude and experience working with tools and equipment
- Journeyman gasfitter certificate
- Relevant safety training or certifications
