We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Line Cook to join our culinary team at Fursat, an Indian restaurant in Scarborough. The ideal candidate will be passionate about Indian food and committed to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. As a Line Cook, you will play a vital role in meal preparation and ensuring that our kitchen operates efficiently. You will work closely with other kitchen staff to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

Duties

- Prepare and cook menu items, including curries, gravies, tandoor and tawa items, according to established recipes and standards.
- Prep ingredients such as marinades, sauces, chopped vegetables and portioned proteins before service.
- Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Assist in the organization and cleanliness of the kitchen, including proper food handling and storage.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service during peak hours.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, reporting any shortages to the kitchen manager.
- Maintain a clean work area, including cooking stations, utensils, and equipment.
- Participate in menu planning and development as needed.
- Help train new kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques and safety practices.

Requirements




- Proven experience as a Line Cook or in a similar role within the food service or restaurant industry; Indian cuisine experience is a strong asset.
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations; a Food Handler Certificate is preferred.
- Ability to prepare meals efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Familiarity with various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards collaboration.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Nice to Have
- Tandoor experience.
- Experience in a high-volume restaurant kitchen.
