Discovery Dream Homes is growing our production design team. We’re looking for a designer who enjoys solving practical challenges, pays attention to the details, and wants to build a career in log and timber design.

In this role, you’ll develop the drawings and production information that take a custom project from design through manufacturing and assembly. You’ll work with our design, engineering, and production teams on timber framing, custom connections, steel components, and mechanical hardware.

What you’ll do

- Prepare 3D models and 2D drawings for engineering review.
- Create CNC files for production on the Hundegger K2.
- Prepare shop drawings and production packages for our factory.
- Create assembly drawings for builders to use on site.
- Design and detail custom timber connections, steel components, and mechanical hardware.
- Prepare timber quotes.
- Coordinate technical details with engineering and production staff.
- Contribute to projects that improve the production design department, including, but not limited to, writing design procedures, creating spreadsheets, and developing reusable 2D and 3D catalog elements.

What we’re looking for You have drafting or design experience in construction,



architecture, engineering, manufacturing, or a related field. You’re a robust problem solver who communicates clearly and takes pride in accurate, complete work.

Attention to detail is essential. Some tasks are repetitive, deadlines can be tight, and drawings may need several rounds of review. You’re comfortable receiving feedback and completing revisions carefully.

Assets

Experience in any of the following would be an asset:

- Cadwork
- CNC programming for the Hundegger K2
- Timber framing
- Preparing mechanical drawings

We also welcome applicants with transferable design skills who are eager to learn.

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
