Not the math kind. The tenacious, ledge-y, “how has this been living 7 mm subgingivally for this long?” kind.

Tired of opening a medical history and discovering it has more pages than your mortgage documents?

Had enough of perio charting?

Does the phrase “generalized 5–7 mm pockets with heavy bleeding” no longer spark joy?

We may have just the thing for you.

Tiny teeth. Tiny instruments. Very little calculus. And patients whose medication list usually consists of… nothing.

Welcome to pediatric dentistry.

Island Kids Dentistry is a busy, growing and thriving pediatric specialty practice in Victoria, and we’re looking for an awesome Registered Dental Hygienist to join our team four days a week, Monday through Thursday.

And while we can’t promise you’ll never encounter calculus again, we can confidently say you’ll encounter considerably less of it.

What WILL you encounter?

Kids.

Lots of kids.

Some will tell you elaborate stories about Minecraft.

Some will proudly show you the tooth that’s been wiggly for an oddly impressive amount of time.

Some will open perfectly.

Some will absolutely not.

And occasionally you’ll ask a child to open their mouth and they will look directly into your eyes and say:

“No.”

That’s when your finely tuned dental-hygiene skills really kick in.

You’ll also encounter a dentist who has been known to sing frequently, enthusiastically, and not particularly well, in an effort to lighten the mood.

Earplugs are not currently part of the perks package, but we’re open to feedback.

What’s the actual job?

You’ll be providing preventive care for our pediatric patients, including cleanings, fluoride, sealants, digital radiographs, oral hygiene education, and helping kids develop a positive relationship with dentistry.

We’re a modern, fully digital pediatric specialty practice with six operatories, nitrous throughout the office, and a great group of dentists, hygienists, assistants, and administrative team members.

Pediatric experience is great, but it isn’t necessary.

We can teach pediatric dentistry.

It’s much harder to teach someone to be positive, dependable and great to work with.

The good stuff

Monday to Thursday.

That’s right.

Every Friday off.

Also every Saturday.

Also every Sunday.

We think you’ll figure out what to do with them.

And one of our hygienists’ favourite perks?

You generally don’t wait around for the dentist to do your exam.

We know how frustrating it is to be perfectly on time, only to watch your schedule slowly implode while you wait for an exam.



We’ve structured our practice so that the vast majority of the time, you won’t be waiting for us.

We can’t promise 100%, because dentistry, but we’re pretty darn close.
