As our Retail Manager, you'll be the driving force behind our day-to-day retail operation. Lead a small team, keep our showroom sharp and welcoming, and help customers find exactly the right espresso machine, grinder, or brewing setup for their needs. This is a hands-on leadership role where your skills and creativity about merchandising, displays, and customer experience will be used.

What You'll Be Doing:

Retail Operations:

Running day-to-day retail operations

Performing opening and closing duties

Managing in-store merchandising, seasonal displays, and signage

Maintaining clean, organized retail displays and back-of-house stock

Managing physical inventory, warehouse receiving, and stock organization

Implementing in-store promotions and seasonal campaigns

Team Leadership:

Scheduling and managing a team of part-time employees

Leading staff training and building ongoing product knowledge across the team

Keeping the team motivated, informed, and aligned with Gold Roast's standards

Customer Engagement & Sales:

Assisting customers with purchase decisions by providing in-depth product knowledge (espresso machines, brewing tools, coffee, etc.). Many of our machines are ready for demo, allowing customers to test the products before purchasing.

Processing sales transactions accurately and efficiently

Answering the showroom phone and assisting customers over the phone

Assisting with incoming and outgoing residential machine repairs

Helping walk-in commercial and wholesale customers

Shipping & Inventory:





Managing online order processing and outgoing shipments

Coordinating with the team on inventory replenishment and receiving

What We're Looking For:

Retail or Foodservice Experience: A must-have. You know how a retail floor runs and you're comfortable taking ownership of it.

Leadership Experience: You've been a shift supervisor, team lead, or manager, you know how to motivate people and keep things running smoothly.

Coffee Knowledge: Whether your coffee knowledge comes from a professional setting or a dedicated home setup, we value hands-on skills such as such as pulling espresso shots, frothing milk, and/or using various other brewing methods. At minimum, you should have a genuine interest in coffee and an understanding of brewing methods.

Technical Skills: Experience with POS systems and payment terminals is preferred. Basic familiarity with Shopify (front-end) and Microsoft Office including basic Excel is an asset.

Creative Eye: You have a knack for merchandising, store organization, and attractive seasonal displays.

People Person: You enjoy talking to customers, solving their problems, and leaving them with a great impression.

Problem Solver: You have strong conflict resolution skills and a calm, solutions-first approach when things get busy.

Physically Capable: Ability to lift up to 30lbs and assist customers in carrying purchases to their vehicle.

Transportation: Must be able to reliably get to and from our store location at A19-550 Parkside Dr., Waterloo.

Language: Must be fluent in English, both written and oral.

Position Details:

Hours: Full-time, 4 shifts per week, 32–36 hours/week (possibility of up to 5 shifts during busy periods).

Showroom Hours: Mon–Wed 8:30am–4:30pm, Thurs–Fri 8:30am–6:00pm, Saturday 10:00am–4:00pm, Closed Sundays

This role should expect to work 2–4 Saturdays per month.

Holidays: We are closed on most statutory holidays; this role is expected to work close to holiday periods when the store is open.

Pay: $25/hour
