Position Overview

Riverdale Immigrant Women’s Centre (RIWC) is recruiting candidates for Security Guard opportunities on behalf of its employer partners across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

We are seeking reliable, professional, and customer-service-oriented individuals interested in pursuing employment in the security industry. Opportunities may be available at residential, commercial, corporate, and event locations.

Hiring Locations

Positions may be available in the following areas:

- Mississauga
- Etobicoke
- North York
- Downtown Toronto
- Scarborough
- Other locations across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)

Please note: Work locations and shift availability will depend on employer needs, candidate qualifications, and successful completion of the required licensing process.

Key Responsibilities





- Monitor and patrol assigned properties and locations.
- Help maintain a safe and secure environment for clients, employees, residents, and visitors.
- Control building access and verify the identity and authorization of visitors.
- Observe and report suspicious activities, security risks, and unsafe conditions.
- Respond to incidents, emergencies, and security concerns in a calm and professional manner.
- Prepare accurate incident and occurrence reports.
- Provide courteous customer service while maintaining a professional presence.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, clients, and emergency personnel when required.
- Follow established security procedures, workplace policies, and emergency protocols.

Qualifications and Experience

- Previous experience in security, customer service, or a related field is an asset but not always required.
- A valid Ontario Security Guard Licence is an asset and may be mandatory for placement in licensed security positions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional attitude, appearance, and conduct.
- Good observation, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Willingness to complete all required security training and licensing requirements, if not already licensed.

Requirements

- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Must meet the applicable training, examination, and licensing requirements for the position.
- Must be willing to work in person at assigned GTA locations.
- Must be available for flexible shifts, which may include days, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays, depending on the position.
- Must demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and a commitment to workplace safety.

Pay: $17.95-$26.77 per hour
