Curious Caterpillars is looking for reliable, warm and energetic Supply Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) to support our childcare centres across Toronto.

This is a great opportunity for educators who enjoy variety, are confident working with different age groups, and are looking for flexible on-call work. Strong supply educators may also be considered for future permanent opportunities as they become available.

The Role

As a Supply RECE, you will work collaboratively with our classroom teams to provide a safe, nurturing and engaging workplace for children.

Responsibilities include

- Supporting and implementing age-appropriate curriculum and programming
- Engaging children through play, conversation and meaningful learning experiences
- Observing children’s interests, development and individual needs
- Assisting with documentation and program planning as required
- Providing attentive supervision and maintaining children’s health and safety
- Supporting children’s independence, self-help skills and positive social interactions




- Participating in indoor and outdoor programming, including approximately two hours of outdoor play each day, weather permitting
- Communicating professionally and respectfully with families and team members
- Maintaining a clean, organized and welcoming classroom environment
- Following all Centre policies and procedures and applicable requirements under the Child Care and Early Years Act
- Working confidently with Infant, Toddler and Preschool age groups based on Centre needs

- Dependable, punctual and responsive when contacted for shifts
- Warm, patient and passionate about early childhood education
- Flexible and confident working with Infants, Toddlers and Preschoolers
- Comfortable joining different classroom teams and adapting quickly
- Professional, organized and attentive to safety and cleanliness
- A positive team player with strong communication skills
- Able to support children with a range of developmental, behavioural and individual needs
- Able to travel between assigned Toronto childcare locations as required

Requirements Successful candidates must have or provide:

- Current registration and good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators




- Current Standard First Aid and Infant/Child CPR
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
- Required health assessment and immunization documentation in accordance with Public Health requirements
- Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps
- Required Centre training, including Workplace Violence & Harassment, AODA and Human Rights training
- Ability to work in person and respond to on-call scheduling needs

Previous experience working in a licensed childcare setting is strongly preferred. Food Handler Certification is considered an asset.
