Staff Accountant/Controller

Blackfin Doors & Gates provides the installation and service of overhead residential garage doors, commercial parkade and rolling steel doors, and driveway gates. Please note that we are only considering applicants with previous experience at this time.

Position Overview

Our Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations and assisting with maintenance of accurate and consistent financial records. This may include assisting with preparation and processing of payroll transactions, completing monthly reconciliations of credit card statements and bank accounts, completing tax and payroll remittances, posting operational journal entries, completion of weekly financial reporting, and assisting with day to day operations as needed. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, high level of organization, strong communication, customer service skills and commitment to quality control will be essential in meeting the guidelines of this position.

This will be a full time position unless the ideal candidate prefers less hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

- Reporting: Review, finalize and complete weekly reporting as requested. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, project administration and financial analysis.
- Payroll: Gather payroll documentation, audit timestamps for completion, and prepare for manager approval prior to processing.




- Reconciliations: Ensure that all gas card, credit card and bank account reconciliations are completed as per company processes and procedures.
- Remittances: Ensure remittances, WCB premiums and payroll taxes are processed to meet deadlines.
- Support: Provide administrative and cross-functional support to other staff and management as needed.
- Representation: Represent Blackfin Doors and Gates within the community, maintaining professionalism and meeting all customer service guidelines.

Requirements

- Experience: Minimum 5 years experience as a Finance Manager, Accounting Manager or full cycle Bookkeeper, preferably in a service-related field. Advanced proficiency in accounts payable, payroll, journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting and full cycle bookkeeping.
- Organization: Must be able to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and successfully while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Programs: Must have a high level of competency in Microsoft Office and Quickbooks Desktop.
- Driver’s License: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is preferred, with a clean driver’s abstract.

Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25.0 – 40.0 per week
