We are particularly interested in candidates who have gained experience in a retail head office environment, such as a Buyer's Assistant, Merchandising Assistant, Category Assistant or similar role. Experience working with or around major retail chains is also highly relevant.

Why join MACVAD?

- Market-competitive salary and annual discretionary bonus based on company performance and personal contribution.
- Supplemental health, dental and vision benefits after the three-month probationary period.
- Two weeks of paid vacation to start.
- Paid birthday leave after one year.
- One work-from-home day per week after the probationary period.
- Career-development opportunities within an established global business.
- Support from an experienced leadership team, in-house designers and international sourcing specialists.
- A collaborative culture built around creativity, generosity, shared knowledge and commercial success.

About the Role

As a Junior Account Manager, you will support the management and growth of retail accounts while developing your understanding of CPG sales, product sourcing, merchandising and account management.

You will work closely with experienced members of the MACVAD team and gradually take on greater responsibility as your knowledge and confidence develop.

- Assist with preparing buyer presentations, product proposals, catalogues and reports.
- Support buyer meetings and presentations as your experience develops.
- Learn how retail buyers evaluate products, pricing, margins, trends and commercial opportunities.
- Respond promptly and proactively to requests from customers, suppliers and colleagues.

Product, Retail & Global Sourcing

- Stay up to date with retail, fashion, home and consumer-product trends and identify products that may be relevant to our customers.
- Conduct market research, retail analysis and competitor reviews.
- Develop a strong understanding of the products we sell and the categories we operate in.
- Work with suppliers, customers, designers and internal teams to coordinate products from concept and costing through sampling, production and delivery.
- Collaborate with our teams in China and Vietnam and with partner factories throughout Asia.
- Develop an understanding of product costing, margins, quality requirements, production processes, compliance and international supply chains.
- Help ensure projects remain organized, accurate and on schedule.
- Support the team in developing products that are commercially relevant, on-trend and appropriate for our retail customers.
- Take increasing ownership of assigned products, categories and accounts as your experience develops.

About You

We are looking for someone who is curious, commercially minded and genuinely interested in retail products. You don't need to have years of account-management experience — we are looking for the right foundation, attitude and potential to develop within the role.

You may be a good fit if you have:

- 1–3 years of experience in retail, CPG, merchandising, sales, buying, account coordination, product development or a related field.
- Experience in a retail head office environment is highly desirable. Examples could include a Buyer's Assistant, Merchandising Assistant, Category Assistant, Sales Coordinator or similar role.
- Experience working for or with major retail chains, mass merchants, grocery, discount or department-store environments would be an advantage.
- A genuine interest in fashion, retail products, shopping and consumer trends.
- A good eye for products, presentation, trends and what is likely to appeal to consumers.
- Previous exposure to consumer products, importing, wholesaling, global sourcing, product development or category management is an advantage.
- An interest in learning about retail sales, buyer expectations, margins and commercial decision-making.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple products, projects and deadlines.
- A proactive, positive and resourceful approach to problem-solving.
- The ability to learn quickly, take direction and gradually work more independently.
- Confidence communicating with internal teams, customers and suppliers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.

- Fluency in English; French is an asset.

Experience or interest in home décor, tabletop, kitchen, storage, furniture, lighting, fashion or other consumer-product categories would be an advantage.

Familiarity with overseas factories, production processes, quality control or international supply chains would also be beneficial, but is not essential.

Travel & Role Requirements

- A valid, unrestricted driver's licence.
- The ability to travel by car to buyer meetings in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.
- The ability to participate in local and occasional U.S. retail-market visits.
- The ability to travel to international trade fairs in Asia up to twice per year, with trips lasting no more than two weeks.
- The legal right to work in Canada without employer sponsorship.
