GHA Endoscopy– Hamilton, ON

GHA Surgical Centre is an exciting development in the delivery of ambulatory endoscopic services in the greater Hamilton area. GHA is an 8,000 square foot, free standing facility conveniently located on Upper James Street, near the corner of Mohawk Road. It is just a few minutes travel from the Linc and Highway 403. The facility has ample free parking and easy access for patients, their family and staff. There are two endoscopy procedure rooms plus two operating rooms which function as endoscopy suites. There are assessment rooms and ambulatory procedure rooms on the lower level. We have created a facility that is a model of excellence in endoscopy and surgical service delivery in a community-based location. GHA’s patient centred approach to healthcare provides high quality services in a friendly professional environment. Since its’ inception this has given rise to improved access to care resulting in better patient outcomes.

The Directors and Medical Staff include local community and hospital leaders who have practiced for years in Hamilton and maintain active hospital privileges. This allows GHA to provide continuity of care for any patients who may require hospital based medical or surgical equipment.

Position Summary:

To work with an interdisciplinary team of professionals focusing on welcoming Patients to GHA Surgical Centre, assessing their needs and preparing them for their procedures. In addition, the Health Care Aide will be responsible for housekeeping duties including but not limited to laundry, cleaning and overall tidiness within the facility. In addition, responsible for the cleaning of the entire facility.

Responsibilities:

· Work within a multi-disciplinary team

· Controlling daily schedule of patient intake





· Communicating schedule changes from administration to nursing and physician staff

· Patient admission and assessment

· Assist and direct patients in order to prepare for their procedure

· Communicates patients’ appropriateness and preparation for procedure with healthcare team

· Identifies and reports any concerns regarding patient preparedness for procedure

· Patient transfer

· Recognizes needs of recovering patients and communicates concerns to RN

· Coordinating patient ride home

· Changing beds (stripping/sanitizing)

· Collects and sorts bags of soiled linens

· Laundry related to procedure day including washing, drying, folding, restocking

· Maintaining clinics cleanliness, tidiness, and organization

· Stocking and restocking supplies

· Garbage disposal and recycling, including appropriate collection and disposal of biomedical waste

· To perform any other duties as deemed appropriate by management.

Qualifications:

- Graduate of Health Care Aide program (or provincial equivalent certificate program).
- Housekeeping experience in a healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal and Patient focus skills
- Must have demonstrated sound skills and knowledge of providing personal care duties
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification recommended
- Ability to perform tasks that are necessary for the position.
- Must be available to work weekends.
- Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check
