ABOUT AMAZING CONSTRUCTION LTD.

Amazing Construction Ltd. is a Caledon-based construction company that has been building across the Greater Toronto Area since 2007. We are a close-knit team of about 25 people, which means your work is visible, your input matters, and you will deal directly with ownership, project managers and field crews rather than sitting in a large bid department.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a hands-on Construction Estimator to own the front end of our projects: finding opportunities on public and private bid portals, reviewing tender documents, producing accurate quantity take-offs and pricing, and assembling complete, compliant bid submissions. You will work closely with the President and our project team and will be the main point of contact for suppliers and subcontractors during the bid stage.

This is an intermediate-level position. We will train you on our systems and pricing history, but you need to come in already comfortable reading drawings and specifications and working independently on a deadline.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Monitor bid portals (Bids&Tenders;, MERX, Biddingo, DataBid/ConstructConnect and similar) daily and flag projects that fit our capabilities
- Review RFTs, RFPs and RFQs, Scopes of Work, specifications, addenda and bid forms, and track all requirements, deadlines and submission formats
- Read IFC (Issued for Construction) and tender drawings and produce detailed quantity take-offs (concrete, aggregates, excavation, formwork, rebar, masonry, site works and related trades)
- Build unit-rate and crew/productivity-based cost estimates for labour, materials, equipment and subcontracted work
- Solicit, level and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotes; maintain and grow our raw-material supplier relationships (concrete, cement, stone, aggregates and related suppliers)
- Prepare RFIs, attend pre-bid meetings and site visits,



and incorporate addenda into the estimate
- Assemble the full bid package: pricing forms, bonding and insurance requirements, WSIB clearance, references, schedules and any other tender documents, and submit on time through the correct portal or delivery method
- Hand off awarded projects to the project manager with a clear budget, scope and list of assumptions and exclusions
- Track bid results, maintain a historical cost database and help improve our pricing accuracy over time
- Support change-order pricing and value-engineering options on active projects as needed

WHAT YOU BRING

- 3+ years of construction estimating experience in Canada (5+ years preferred), ideally in civil, concrete, site works or ICI projects
- Proven ability to read and interpret IFC drawings, tender drawings and specifications
- Hands-on experience producing quantity take-offs and building cost estimates
- Working knowledge of public tendering in Ontario and familiarity with bid portals such as Bids&Tenders;, MERX, Biddingo and DataBid
- Existing relationships with raw-material suppliers (concrete, aggregates, stone or similar) in the GTA
- Strong Excel skills and experience with at least one take-off tool (Bluebeam, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff or similar)
- Organized, detail-oriented and reliable under bid deadlines; clear written and spoken English
- Valid Ontario G driver's licence and ability to travel to site visits and pre-bid meetings in the GTA
- Legally entitled to work in Canada

NICE TO HAVE





- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management or a related field
- CET, C.Tech., Gold Seal or similar designation (or working toward one)
- Familiarity with CCDC contracts and Ontario Provincial Standards (OPSS/OPSD)
- Experience with municipal, school board or other public-sector tenders in Ontario
- Experience with Procore, BuildingConnected or similar bid-management tools

COMPENSATION AND PERKS

- $22.00–$25.00 per hour, based on experience; vacation pay is included in the hourly rate
- Full-time, stable hours, Monday to Friday, on-site at our Terra Cotta office
