Curious Caterpillars is looking for reliable, warm and energetic Supply Early Childhood Assistants (ECAs) to support our childcare centres across Toronto.

This is a great opportunity for educators who enjoy working with children, are comfortable supporting different age groups, and are looking for flexible on-call work. Strong supply educators may also be considered for future permanent opportunities as they become available.

The Role

As a Supply ECA, you will work alongside RECEs and permanent classroom educators to support the daily program and provide a safe, nurturing and engaging environment for children.

Responsibilities include:

- Supporting RECEs and ECAs with daily classroom routines, transitions and activities
- Engaging children through play, conversation and age-appropriate experiences
- Providing attentive supervision and maintaining children’s health and safety
- Supporting children’s independence, self-help skills and positive social interactions
- Assisting with observations and documentation when required




- Participating in indoor and outdoor programming, including approximately two hours of outdoor play each day, weather permitting
- Assisting with classroom setup, materials and daily organization
- Maintaining a clean, organized and welcoming classroom environment
- Communicating professionally and respectfully with children, families and team members
- Following all Centre policies and procedures and applicable requirements under the Child Care and Early Years Act
- Supporting Infant, Toddler and Preschool classrooms based on Centre needs

You are:

- Dependable, punctual and responsive when contacted for shifts
- Warm, patient and genuinely enjoy working with young children
- Flexible and confident working with Infants, Toddlers and Preschoolers
- Comfortable joining different classroom teams and adapting quickly
- Professional, organized and attentive to cleanliness and safety
- A positive team player with solid communication skills
- Able to support children with a range of developmental, behavioural and individual needs
- Able to travel between assigned Toronto childcare locations as required

Requirements

Successful candidates must have or provide:

- Current Standard First Aid and Infant/Child CPR




- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
- Required health assessment and immunization documentation in accordance with Public Health requirements
- Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps
- Required Centre training, including Workplace Violence & Harassment, AODA and Human Rights training
- Ability to work in person and respond to on-call scheduling needs

Previous experience working with children in a licensed childcare or group-care setting is strongly preferred.

Early Childhood Education studies or related childcare education are considered an asset.

Food Handler Certification is also considered an asset.

Job offers are conditional upon successfully meeting the Centre’s employment, screening, health and certification requirements.
