Lead the team. Own the reporting. Make the numbers count.

Nextleaf is a publicly listed cannabis manufacturer looking for an accounting leader who stays close to the work. You know how to run a disciplined close, prepare financial statements, develop your team, and solve the issues behind the numbers.

Reporting to the CFO or designate, you’ll lead accounting operations and directly manage the accounting team. You’ll also personally prepare consolidated IFRS financial statements and management reporting. This role combines leadership with hands-on execution, with room to strengthen processes and influence how the business operates.

Compensation

The salary band for this role is $95,000–$125,000 annually.

Starting salary reflects demonstrated experience and readiness to perform the full scope of the role. The broader band supports growth as capability, contribution, and sustained performance increase.

What you’ll own

- Financial reporting and close: Personally prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated IFRS financial statements and management reporting. Lead accurate, timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
- Accounting operations: Lead full-cycle accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and fixed asset and lease accounting.
- Team leadership: Set priorities, delegate effectively, review work, coach employees, and manage performance. Build explicit expectations and accountability.
- Manufacturing and inventory accounting: Lead inventory valuation, costing, cost of goods sold, reconciliations, and production variance analysis.
- Audits and controls: Coordinate external audits, maintain supporting schedules, and strengthen financial controls and documentation.
- Business support and improvement: Support budgeting,

forecasting, cash flow reporting, and financial analysis. Work across departments to resolve issues and improve Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central workflows.
- Payroll: Oversee and administer payroll following training on Nextleaf’s systems and processes.

What you bring

Your experience needs to be hands-on and demonstrated. We’ll ask for specific examples of financial statements you personally prepared, accounting operations you led, and teams you directly managed.

- Five or more years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and month-end and year-end close.
- Two or more years directly managing accounting or finance staff, including delegation, work review, coaching, performance management, and employee development.
- Proven experience independently preparing IFRS financial statements and management reporting.
- Demonstrated manufacturing accounting experience, including inventory valuation, costing, and cost of goods sold.
- Proven experience managing audits, financial controls, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- A track record of improving processes, resolving accounting issues, and delivering accurate work against deadlines.
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

What will strengthen your application

- CPA designation or active progression toward designation.
- Hands-on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience in manufacturing,

strongly preferred.
- Public company financial reporting experience.
- Knowledge of federal cannabis excise duty or experience in a Health Canada–licensed or other regulated manufacturing environment.
