We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Cattle Herdsman - Ranch Assistant Manager to join our team. This vital role involves overseeing daily cattle care, assisting with herd management tasks, and supporting overall ranch operations. The ideal candidate will be proactive, physically fit, and passionate about livestock farming, helping us maintain our high standards of animal health and productivity.
Duties
- Assist with daily cattle handling, feeding, watering, and health checks to ensure optimal herd well-being
- Monitor herd movement and behavior, identifying any signs of illness or distress promptly
- Operate and maintain farm machinery used for feeding, fencing, and general ranch tasks
- Perform heavy lifting tasks related to feed bags, equipment, and cattle handling supplies
- Support pasture management activities including fencing repairs and pasture rotation
- Maintain accurate records of cattle health treatments, breeding activities, and inventory
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and machinery to ensure safe operation
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and perform maintenance on farm machinery
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in various weather conditions
- Experience with farm machinery operation such as tractors, loaders, or feed mixers
- Strong work ethic with a proactive approach to daily ranch responsibilities
- Good communication skills for teamwork and coordination with other staff members
