On November 12th, the Distillery Historic District is transforming into a Winter Village, and we’re looking to populate it! The Winter Village is a place to create memories; a place that facilitates joy, celebration, family, and love into the New Year. The festival aims to help guests rediscover the magic and romance of the holidays by bringing together local artisanal food makers, craftspeople and musicians to the heart of the city again! If you love spreading joy and sharing smiles – we’d like you to join our village!
The Winter Village is in need of Village Production Support personnel to ensure our entire site – kitchens, store rooms, public areas, bars and shops – are in perfect working condition. If you enjoy jumping in to help others, working with a team making a site run seamlessly and anticipating and resolving issues before they happen – this role could be ideal for you!
Here's what the Village offers its Production Support:
- $20 per hour
- Daily snack voucher
- A Pass to The Winter Village
- The opportunity to be a vital part of this celebrated winter festival in the city!
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Support all food- and shop-partners by opening the food stalls, ensuring all aspects of the cabin are in working order.
- Support corporate sponsors, ensuring all signage, lighting and activations are in perfect working order.
- Monitor all stalls, outdoor areas, kitchens and facility storage areas with a keen eye for detail, looking for any deficiencies and/or items in need of repair.
- Complete daily installation, set-up, operation, and testing of equipment on the site.
- Follow a schedule of preventative maintenance to ensure seamless operation of all Winter Village areas.
- Ensure that all equipment is maintained in valuable order and being used properly.
- Meet required standards regarding food and site safety, and have a working knowledge of the rules and regulations applicable to the Winter Village site.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of all work areas.
- Report any equipment challenges and any issues relating to consumable items to a supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Here’s our Wish List for our Village Production Support:
- Experience working in a time-sensitive, public area – understanding the importance of a sense of urgency and working quickly without compromising safety.
- Experience as a Maintenance Tech or on a Production Team in a festival or outdoor entertainment setting.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving challenges.
- Ability to troubleshoot and thrive under tight timelines, communicating competing priorities to a supervisor and following a plan.
- Experience in site/structural maintenance.
- Must demonstrate a positive and solutions-oriented approach to work.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with collaboration and partnerships across various disciplines.
- Understanding of the importance of remaining professional and positive when communicating with colleagues, partners, sponsors and the general public – keep yourself on the nice list – Santa is in the Winter Village!
