About ITB

Intercontinental Truck Body builds custom truck bodies — every unit engineered and fabricated to a customer's spec, not pulled off a shelf. That means our shop runs on skilled fabricators, installers and technicians along with accurate drawings, and good coordination between departments.

The Role

The Production Supervisor will be the link between the Production Coordinator and the Shop Supervisors — understanding what the schedule requires, communicating the expectations clearly and ensuring that we have the right people in the right roles to deliver on those expectations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Employee Supervision and Leadership

- Provide day-to-day direction and supervision to the Shop Supervisors, and through them, to the welders, fabricators, assemblers, installers, and other shop personnel.
- Establish clear work expectations and hold employees accountable for productivity, workmanship, attendance, and safety.
- Monitor individual and team performance, providing regular coaching, feedback, and guidance.
- Address employee performance and conduct concerns promptly and professionally.
- Participate in employee recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations as required.

2. Production Management

- Plan, organize, and assign work together with the Shop Supervisors based on production priorities, available resources, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor production progress and adjust workloads to meet deadlines.
- Coordinate the movement of jobs through the various stages of manufacturing.
- Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, delays, and operational challenges.
- Monitor labour hours and productivity against established job estimates and production targets.

3. Quality Control

- Work together with the Quality Assurance department to ensure all manufactured and installed truck bodies meet company specifications, customer requirements,

and applicable industry standards.
- Verify that production work conforms to approved drawings, measurements, and work orders.
- Identify workmanship deficiencies and ensure corrective action is taken before products advance to the next stage of production.
- Minimize rework, material waste, and warranty-related deficiencies.

4. Health and Safety

- Promote and enforce a strong workplace health and safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with applicable occupational health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular shop inspections and address unsafe conditions or practices immediately.

5. Communication and Coordination

- Communicate daily with the Production Coordinator and Shop Supervisors regarding production status, staffing requirements, scheduling challenges, and operational concerns.
- Coordinate with sales, estimating, purchasing, engineering, and other departments to clarify job specifications and production requirements.
- Provide accurate updates regarding job progress and anticipated completion dates.
- Communicate drawing discrepancies, design concerns, and required changes before proceeding with production.

Qualifications and Experience

- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, welding, or related industrial environment.
- Previous supervisory, lead-hand, or team leadership experience.
- Strong working knowledge of metal fabrication, welding, mechanical assembly, and manufacturing processes.

- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and technical specifications.
- Experience coordinating multiple jobs and managing competing production priorities.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise employees and maintain high standards of workmanship and productivity.
- Sound understanding of occupational health and safety requirements in a manufacturing environment.
- Comfortable using computers for scheduling, job tracking, reporting, and communication.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in truck body manufacturing, commercial vehicle upfitting, trailer manufacturing, or custom equipment fabrication.
- Journeyperson certification or equivalent practical experience in welding, metal fabrication, or a related trade.
- Familiarity with MIG welding, hydraulic systems, electrical installations, and mechanical equipment.
- Experience with CNC cutting, press brakes, shears, and other fabrication equipment.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
- Experience with production scheduling or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Forklift and overhead crane certification or relevant operating experience.
